GSR SWAP HELP
hey guys, i found a deal for 1000$ with installation for just a gsr block, im keeping my b16a2 head along with the stock 99 si tranny, im just wondering if 1000$ is worth it, and if someone could tell me an estimate on quarter mile times or 0-60
0-60 right now on my stock si it runs about 6.7 seconds.
(intake, exhaust, will put on exedy stage 2 with swap, ligther flywheel, 17 inch roja rims in grip A toyo tires. lets say im a good driver and its like 60 degrees outside on dry pavement.)

shortblock is just the block itself right? im not sure. but the 500$ is for not just the block, it comes with pistons and rods and all that good stuff, basically a gsr swap without the head/tranni. im still kind of new to swaps so just tell me what u think

he wasnt happy because he was still being pulled by GSR's, my brother had this set up in his 00 SI, but he had type-r pistons and a worked head.....i dont think youll get the power you think youll get out of it by just swaping bottom ends, just a little more tq.

15 pound feet of torque through all RPM. Maybe .3/.4 seconds in the quarter.

In your pig of an Si, you won't be able to beat a GSR "pretty easily" until you put huge cams or forced induction on your powerplant.
A GSR runs mid-to-low-15's stock with some I/H/E guys dipping into the high 14's. You car runs mid-to-low 15's with I/H/E and a decent driver. It will always be a driver's race between the two cars.

i feel like you already made up your mind and you are trying to make up ours aswell.
if you have the money, and something is wrong with your bottom end get it done.
if nothing is wrong with yours at all dont worry about it, as you wont be like OHHHH this ISH is so much faster now.
thats just my opinion though.
also, i would say the pricing seems rather fair, especially if you dont live on the west coast.
you know what a GSR longblock goes for, and what the head goes for, so take the price of the head from the longblock and that leaves you well over a grand still just for the shortblock, i say price is pretty good. (then again, here on the east coast we pay $700 for an Dseries longblock)
