Default every one else has one so why not me aarontrini85's build thread

i didnt start taking pics till sunday and most the work was done friday saterday so this first part isnt realy durring the work its more so showing stuff installed.

ok i picked up a 91 crx si in feb. and it was supposed to be a good running car with a obd1 conversion and a d16y8 other then that stock and ready to be a daily driver while a built a motor.

well as you can guess it didnt last the obd0-obd1 harness was wired wrong so i went through and fixed that. then the car seemed to run fine.

about 2 days later i was driving and the headgasket blew. i never noticed the coolant temp gauge wasnt working . the thermostat housing had a rag wedged under it to soak up the coolant that was dripping .

so i went and did arp headstuds a new headgasket and a skunk 2 cam gear just for the hell of it.

i got it running right but since the car had some kind of ghetto wire tuck the harness had a **** load of bad connections from when i took off the harness and put it back in.

at this point in time i decided it was time to sell the D and switch it back to non vtec and work my way up again rather then trying to fix a headache like this.

This is where the build starts but dont think the bad luck ends here lol.

ok first things first was why not fix up the **** bushings on the front end

so one went prothane lca bushings, D bracket bushings, and endlinks.

the uca's will probly be replaced all together once i find a set that doesnt suck.

after that i decided that rather then a d16a6 i would just go with a simple ls motor. so while i hunted that down i picked up a set of hasport mounts and installed them

then i decied to pull off the ghetto exhaust the kid i picked the car up from had installed

then i was going to throw on my blox lca's

and keep my tokico blues and intrax springs.

but looking around the garage i thought why not put my k sports coilovers to use finaly so on went the k sports and these lca's

oem ftw

then saterday night i took a trip to clintonville WI to pick up a motor a not so nice looking b18b1 but i thought looks cant be every thing it will probly work so why not its cheap only $250

the next moring i took a trip to chicago to pick up some stuff for a buddy from jdm jack and he just so happend to have a 1st gen avid tracion bar at a bomb *** deal so i had to pick that up

to bad i had just spent about a hour putting in prothane bushings in my radius arms lol

either way that was the end of this weekend then came today

i was going to install the traction bar but had to pull off a motor mount from the b18 first

so i went and removed the valve cover to get the timing belt cover off and noticed one cam was spining free. i thought hmmm thats not right so i pulled out the cams and looked around

notice any thing missing ??

two rockers were mia

oh wait i found them

wedged under a spring it was a bitch to pry them out with a screw driver

heres the mark the rocker made when it flew out and hit the side of the head

this was pissing me off a little especialy when i noticed the valves were staying down when the rockers werent there. in my head that only meens one thing. crushed valves

i was able to locate a head for $75 from a friend so i know it will work but i think its time to build so its time to hunt down parts
