Why does my clutch disc have so much play on the shaft?
Well a little while ago i was told i bought a 92 ls tranny. So I buy a clutch kit for it (ACT). Tonite I go to install it and the clutch disc has alot of play. Is it because it could possibly be a 90-91 tranny? Or that the teeth are that far worn down which i doubt. how do i figure out what tranny it is?
I had a problem similar to this except mine was the reverse. I bought a Clutchmasters stage 4 clutch, and the 4 puck disc spline was smaller than the spline on the tranny, so it wouldn't fit. The teeth seemed a lil sharper on the clutch i had then the spline on the tranny, I am guessing your tranny has the sharper smaller spline and you have the clutch disc for the larger spline, hence the play. Just My opinion, but when you see the 2 discs side by side you will easily be able to tell the difference.
Yea ive confirmed that its a 90-91 tranny (smaller shaft). I dont have the old clutch since all I bought was the tranny. I was told it was a 92-93 tranny but clearly that not the case. Hopefully I can exchange the discs if not ill just buy another tranny.
where did you buy the clutch at? ive seen people tell the company that they bought it from that it didnt fit and they send them the right one.
