5th Gen CL1/CF4 front end conversion?
I just wanted to know if anyone has done it or knows the compatibility as far as how much custom work needs to be done and if anything bolts on. I know there are a few out there with the headlights and that they had to modify the fender a little, well i want the whole front end, i talked to my lovely overseas friends and I can get the CL1 front end for about a little over $2k.
Why? I like the more aggressive look of the CF4 compared to the CD5, plus it looks different. (though it really would ******* suck if i got into an accident huh?)..
Anyways if anyone knows where i can get specs or anything like that it'd be much appreciate, thanksssssss.
imagine this front end in your rear view!

I actually posted a thread about this not too far back!

I'm assuming it would be more difficult to do the swap on a 5th gen than it would be on a 6th gen. I'm sure it can be done on a 5th gen but it's not going to be a "bolt on" procedure. If you get the front end your going to be looking at quite a pricey job from a body shop to do the swap!
However I love the idea of a CF front end on a CD. That would look HOT!
Nice!! i just noticed the Azect Accord pic. Nice ride eh??

it is, im definitely going to be looking into it, and the pricing i got doesn't look that bad, i can probably get it to work (who knows, maybe sell conversion kits afterwards -winkwink-)
but i dont think it can be that hard-- the dimensions of a 5th and 6th gen can't be that much of a difference, could involve using parts of my existing fender and a little bondo(-cringe-).. but overall im looking to do a clean conversion... and i know conversions are an old thing but this is something that apparently hasn't been fully done..

hmm..

^^^^ Accord is clean.
Too bad you can only do that conversions with CD's that have body kits.
I'd like to see one done with OEM bumpers.

wow that **** is bad!! I want one... I would like to ask... if you dont have a lil friend over seas where could you find parts??? and I was wondering... in that picture are all those parts from a CL1 besides the bumper??? or are those jus modified??? like Im mostly concerned about his hood... is that a CL1 hood?? cause I wanna carbon fiber hood but Im having enough trouble finding CL1 parts as it is..
It looks to me like the body lines are different on that CF than on the CD. The hard line about 6" below the windows doesn't look like a CD to me; looking at it again it could just be the lighting, I'm not sure.
the first picture i posted is an actual CF4/CL1. the second is a CD with the headlights modified. JDMCD8 says it bolted in and all he had to do was trim the fender a little bit. He has a CD5 hood(untouched), mugen front bumper and grill though.
right on... but I have a CG... so would I go with a CD hood?? err would mine work well?? same for the bumper... should I go with a body kit err sumthin from a CD?? cause Im pretty shure thas badass looking

It's been done a few times with stock/oem bumpers.

Hey guys,
I am currently modding my 2000 Accord Sedan into JDM CL1 Accord Euro R.
It is very labor intensive but it's a very interesting project for me, I'll post up pics soon.
I'm just gonna summerized everything short but also include few things I ran to at the bottom (very long)
It is hard to convert USDM Accord into a CL1/CF4 because JDM body is longer and narrower. Also the front end is lower than USDM. Its not imposible to do it but it does take a lot of hours of work. It's not as easy as converting USDM Integra to JDM Integra. Many parts doesn't fit and will leave a lot of gaps.
These are the things I ran to so far:
CL1 Hood:
I was able to bolt the hood on directly to USDM brackets with no modification. But I was not able lock the hood to the USDM latch because JDM hood is longer and also narrower. I ended up using hood pins (Installed onto the radiator support). I also ended up about 1 inch gap between fenders and the rear part of hood is about 2 inches higher than USDM (rain can easily goes inside the engine compartment. I'm currently have custom weather strips covering up those gaps to prevent water.
CF4 D2R HID Headlight:
CF4 is SiR version of Accord the different between this headlight is CF4 has clear corner and CL1 has orange coner but they both uses same type of D2R HID. This headlight doesn't fit onto the USDM slot (radiator support.) I had to make custom brackets and extended out to match the hood.
HID Ballast and bulbs:
I was not able to get D2R HID from Honda; therefore, I used Lexus LS300 with minor modification on the HID cover.
CL1 Fender:
JDM Fender will not fit USDM Accord once so ever. Plus the seemline won't match the door. Also the front end angle is different. I ended up using USDM fender. After headlight is installed with extended brackets, I got about a good 4-5 inches of gap between the headlight and the fender (side view) and about a good 3 inches of gap between the front end of the Hood.
CL1 Front bumper:
JDM bumper is too narrow and too short after I had put the hood and headlight on. It won't fit regardless. I ended up cutting off both sides of the bumper and extended it with fiberglass about 4 inches and also brackets to hold the bumper from the radiator support.
CL1 Fog light:
This particular fog light is similar to the Civic fog light and they are mounted on to the frame... right now I don't have any thing solid behind bumper since I extended the bumper. I ended up using tie to tie the fog light on to the bumper ran the wires to fuse box and a switch so that it can be turned on and off. It works!
CL1 Sideskirts:
I don't see this part is nessesary to convert. It looks almost the same as USDM. I ended up using the Black widow sideskirts.
CL1 Trunk:
JDM Truck, again fits perfectly onto USDM brackets but the trunk is sticking out and narrow wont line up to the quater panel just like the Hood. I ended up making custom brackets that moves the latch in ward so that the trunk can be closed and opened. Note: CL1 trunk is keyless entry, it does have motorized latch but I was not able to use it. Only way to open the trunk is to go through cockpit. What a drag.
CL1 Rear bumper:
Forget about this part, will not fit. The bumper is too narrow and short to go on directly. I'm using my old Black Widow rear bumper and cut it up and extended it about 4 inches so that it would line up with the trunk.
CL1 Tailight:
This is by far the most hardest mod of all. The CL1 light is not as wide as USDM and it will not fit on to the USDM socket. I ended up making brackets and cover up the BIG BIG gap with bondo and fiberglass. (USDM tailight wraps around the car and JDM doesn't.) Also remember the trunk is narrower? I have it on now with and inch of body work sticking out (looks like I have wide body kit on.) Right now I'm having alot of problem with this part of the preject. It's hard to seal the tailight so that the rain doesn't come in. I always get flooded trunk when rain comes.
Sorry that its long but if you are thinking to convert it these are the problem that you will probably ran into
PS: I got parts from Ebay. Almost full kit for like $500 That's why I'm not hesitate to mess around with it. The kit came with: hood, front and rear bumpers, foglamps, fenders, sideskirts, trunk, and rear spoiler. I got the headlight seperately from another ebayer for about $300. Hid Kit for about $170.

One is a CG chassis... another is a CL.... and the guy is thinking about doing to a CD....
If the chassis code is different, of course frame/structure are not the same.
I'm really hoping to see pics of your work man.

Ok I have the images here
First few pics are when I just got the kit from Japan.
Was playing around the see how well they will fit.
Front View with TYC Projector Headlight on. You can see the hood and fender doesn't line up and nothing is holding the bumper! LOL

Another angle of the front view.

The images below are after the modification.
I have CF4 headlight installed.

Front View after the modification.

Rear View. I'm still currently working on it. Rear Conversion is the hardest part of the project. As you can see I'm using the Black Widow bumper for now.

This one, I'm making a custom front lip. Still inprocess of molding and retro fitting.

HID Ballast from Lexus ES300 on CF4 Headlight with minor modification to have it fit. Currently running at 4500k with D2R bulbs.

Another HID view from the front.

I'll keep on updating them when I have a chance
Enjoy the pics

Sorry, not sure why the pics don't show. Go to myspace: http://www.myspace.com/azngy go to my pic album under Project car.
would you have time to measure everything for me? I want to see how close they are to CD accords.. and this would be good for those wanting to do the conversion without a blindfold. [just the front end]
