Picked up my MINI today!!!!!
Well,
The MINI COOPER S I ordered some 3 years ago arrived today and I picked her up. It is a great driving car and I am REAL impressed with how solid the car is and how well it handles. It is not an ITR but it will be a great car for everyday driving. Unfortunaltely I can't afford to keep it so it is forsale at the dealership. I do have some pics of is so I can at least remember what it looked like. One day I will have one to keep....but for now ( thanks NASDAQ ) I need to sell her.
Anyway I thought I would let you guys know about it. I think if they ever make an "M" version of this car the RSX R could be in trouble. I am still amazed at how crisp this car handles. Even with only 160 BHP it is a peppy car. It's not fast , but for VIR south it would be a blast.
Here are those pics:
Here is the whole thing:

See you guys at the track!!!!!

Nice color choice. I would love to have one as a daily driver but I couldn't afford one of those and the R. And I dont think I will ever part with m Type R.
Enjoy

Nice car.
I have one question... those wheels look awfully heavy! Do you know how much they weigh? I bet, getting some lightweight wheels on those would do some magic.
(Unless they are already lightweight... please excuse my lack of knowledge on Mini's.)

I have been seriously looking at one of those as a daily driver that I dont have to worry about getting ganked. I have been a fan of mini coopers for as long as I can remember.
I have to by my wife an IS300 first, then its my turn for a new car. I am looking at the mini cooper or the WRX. I guess I wont know till the end of the year when its my turn. I think I am going to drive both and decide. Hopefully the STI comes out soon.

Funny, the more I see them (saw one in the flesh for the first time last week), the more I like them.
If yours was on a trailer at some point this weekend, I think my Mom saw you. She was using the giant Suburban to carry some stuff down to her sister in NC. I just got off the phone with her...
"Karl I saw two Minis this weekend!.....the other one was silvery gray, I think, and was on a trailer."
Before I pull the trigger on a daily driver I will test drive one. Although, after having her '02 MR2 for the weekend, I'm having a hard time thinking of anything else I would possibly want.

Me too. Got to take a few rides in one at an autoX a few weeks ago - car was bone stock, right off the dealership lot with Kuhmo Ecsta V700's. The car was the base model, and it handled very nicely, and the cooper S suspension can be fitted to the car for about $500. Once those are setup and developed, they'll be a force even next year when they get bumped to g-stock. I would like a Cooper S tho. Getting the DVD/Nav system gets rid of the center mounted speedo and places it on the dash next to the tach - but then thats a $1600 feature that i'd never use, getting it for the sole purpose of relocating that silly speedo.

Yep,
The manager of the new MINI store in NC called me up back in 99 and asked me to "make a deposit" on a new car they are trying to get the dealership for. HE said it all depended on who had the most pre-sale deposits as to who got the dealership. So I told him I would help out....I didn't realize he would keep my $1000 for 3 years almost till I saw a car!!!!
