Default CRAZY STORY FIXED FIXED LOL

I have a 93 civic ex that has a T3/T4 hybrid turbo, Complete MSD, VAFC2, 550cc RC injectors, front mount intercooler, eagle rods and Nippon pistons, new crank, clutch kit. And heres my story.... I was just driving around one day not getting into alot of boost but like 15lbs ( pistons rated 18 to 20 lbs) and all of a sudden my car started to smoke from the breather valve on the valve cover.. so i thought it could be bent valve or bad piston rings so i started to take off the head to look at the valves ( the car didnt run bad though) and the valves turned out to be fine so next thought was rings so i take out the pistons and 2 of them are broken (cylinder 3 @ 4 )and the other 2 cracked (1 @ 2) but no damage to block. So my next move is to get some wiseco pistons to go on my eagle rods.... but any way take a look at the pics they say it all hahaha....

this is my D16Z6 after i pull the head and pistons

pic of matifold

pic of turbo

pics of a new 390hp rated clutch from XTD

engine bay

new head

another pic

Vafc2
<p>

intercooler

my baby

the damage to piston

the 2 on left broken 2 on right cracked all 4 messed up

my rc 550cc inj.

the 2 cracked

the 2 broken

with out head

I think what might have actully happend is that i maxed out the max boost my pistons can hold they hold 18 to 20 and i hit 20 a few times. but any way leave some post about were to go next or any thing that might help with my build trying to hit 300hp on 20lbs boost. what is a good managment system for my setup?? thanks jared

it doesnt matter what pistons you use. if the only thing you are useung is the vafc2 to tune with than nothing will last. especially with a stock map sensor at 11+psi

not to be a dick or anything but pretty much all your parts are really cheap o kinda crap. you should have just got a good tune with crome or some other form of management before you started boosting at all.

oh and ps ssac stuff sucks the *****

Read the FAQ's and look into a new tuning solution. (Hondata, or some other form of freeware)

THAT'S NOT A CRAZY STORY.

You should have called the thread "Typical FI noob with typical noob engine failure".

I forsee alot more problems with your setup. Your using subpar parts that with only lead to more stuff breaking. If your running the vafc hack your timing is out of wack and I can guarantee it was detonation that took out your pistons.

If your not gonna upgrade anything at least sell the vafc and get a chipped ecu, w/crome or equivalent standalone.

You can get a chipped ecu here:
http://www.phearble.net
http://www.kenji211.com

Chipped ecu is about 100$ (if you use yours and about 175$ if you buy one)
Tune is about 300$

all the rest of the parts will be fine, and prolly make some good numbers, but not with that POS VAFC.

Now, now fellas. We were all n00bz at one time.

Jarven, get some wiseco, JE, endyn or cp pistons with a compression ratio of ~9:1. Replace your ssac parts (at least the turbo and manifold), some have done ok with these parts, but your risking it by using them. I say this IF the turbo is ssac as I didn't really pay attention. Get a decent map sensor (one that will not throw a check light when you go above 11psi of boost without a missing link). You can get either a gm map sensor (I don't remember the part number but you can search here and find it pretty easily), or a motorolla map sensor. You can get the Motorolla one here.....

http://www.digi-key.com and the part number is: MPX4250AP-ND

Get a chipped ecu like was stated before, you can get them from the links above and there are others that do it as well. To find them you will just have to search. Find someone who knows what they are doing and have them help you OR do a LOT of research as it is obvious from what you say that you do not have much exp doing this type of stuff.

Cliffs: Replace turbo (if ssac/xspower), pistons, manifold (even just get a cheap $300 ss log mani), map sensor (get rid of missing link if you have one), and VAFC with a chipped ecu to run crome and have a good tuner tune it. GL

And please do a bit of research (at least read the faq's). Someone who has been on h-t 1+ years likely answers 2-3 of these posts every week. It gets a bit annoying, that is why people are givin you ish.
