I haven't taken any pix, but I have made a couple. Just follow the general design of the better cold-air systems (i.e. comptech ice box). Make the 'box' part as large as you reasonably can and set it up to draw air from a location outside of the engine bay. I usually use a velocity-stack filter inside of it. The new BPI one is perfect for this application IMHO.

A box break is a big help, but you can piece it together without one if you are patient. I have also done a couple where I felt I had to use a thermal barrier on one or more sides to isolate it better.

Take your time, think it through completely before you start fabricating and you will be fine. Sometimes it helps to use poster board or a similar material to mock it up for fit.

Best of luck with your project.

thanks for the info. i was gonna make one like the ARC were a square filter mounts on top, basicly a box with a filetr mounted on top, i started today making it out of poster board and it came out pretty good, for the base part. well i will take my time for sure and use your help and any others i get. i will let u know how it turns out and post pics.

I'm not a metal fabricator, I am a fiberglass fabricator LOL. I relocated my battery to the inside.

Heres the one I made when I had my civic, its really easy if you have the tools (metal brake, rivet gun, shears, klekos...). I made a template out of cardboard, that took like 3 hours, then I transfered it to sheet metal and made the box, which took about another 4 hours, and painted it and siliconed in the filters. Theres two 5x7" K&N filters- so I have a total of 70"sq of intake on there, and I dont have a good pic but theres a velocity stack on the inside of the box that attaches to the pipe that goes to the turbo for better flow. I got a lot of compliments for it and people wanted me to make one for them...

Its a CL with an H22 with an intake manifold that has the water to air cooler built into it.Then that aluminum deal up front is a heat sheild for the turbo. With the airbox hooked to it.It has a BMW flat style K&N inside the box with vent holes in the bottom that go through the panel infront of the fender well.Oh and one more thing. The way it sits its daily driven with 480hp.But with another turbo it made over 800hp.

And who the hell is Tony1? That dude that lives in Texas with the shiney head?

hmm, looks like a turbo setup, the snail is hidden under that heat shield by the box. the exhaust leaves through the pipe that comes out of the right side, and fresh air enters the turbo from the box to the left of it, and runs straight out to the intake manny, intercooled before it enters the turbo, if that makes any sense.

Pardon my ignorance but what is the point of a set-up like this (the one above)?
