my car fell out of 5th gear 3 times while driving
OK here's the deal I was driving my car on the highway at about 80 and let off the gas slightly and the car fell out of 5th. I put it back in and it fell out again WFT. I stopped on the shoulder turned the car off turned it back on and it drove fine for about 1hour and it fell out again. Well I continued my trip knowing acura roadside is there to help and it didn't happen again. I drove for another 1.5 hours and it never did it again WFT happened?? I'm thinking syncros, because if I downshift from 4th to 3rd I feel something for a vibrating for a second then it releases.
My current mods:
ATS final drive
Exedy clutch
Toda Flywheel
Mugen headers
Mugen twinloop
carsound cat
drop in filter
Azenis 205-50-15
do you think that the dealership will warrenty this if they don't notice the ATS? Also the exedy clutch look *kinda* stock so hopefully they won't notice. Whats the chances that Acura will pay for this one?

One of my old transmisions of my mustang used to pop out of 3rd when I let off the gas. One of the syncros was messed up.
How many miles are on your car?
How many miles are on your car?
That doesn't sound like enough miles for the syncros to be messed up.
I don't know, you might want to check your shifter levers. Make sure they're adjusted correctly.

we had a truck that did that before, was the throwout release bearing needed replacing. might be same thing in your circumstance, dunno why with so few miles though, they normally last long past that. Was your bearing properly lubed with proper lubricant when the clutch kit was installed ?, could be the problem.

Check your transmission fluid. When my tranny fluid got low in old type-r it poped out of 5th gear too. Just stick your finger in the tranny oil hole to check if its at the right level.
That happened on my old celica. It started popping out of 5th .. took it to a mechanic and I think it was a broken or cracked half (lay) shaft. I just held it in gear for a few thousand miles ... then when I got it fixed the guy said it was a good thing I didn't hold it in gear or it could have damaged the whole transmission. Oops!
oh man, i thought hondas were immune from the horrific 5th gear pop out....... it is a problem that has plagued sentra se-r's, nx2000's, and infinity g20s since they were introduced, it starts on ours with a bent shift fork which damages the synchro, and eventually 5th disappears completely
If the dealer figures out that you pulled the tranny The warranty will be voided. I asked them when I was thinking about upgrading my clutch. I am have problems with my tranny and I have 14,300 miles on my ITR. I have not had it pop out of gear though. I have looked for any type of adjustment on the shifter and rod and have not seen one. I need to take my into the dealer and have them look at it again. If you decide to take it in I would try to see if any of the bolts on the tranny have paint on them. I have noticed that they put a mark on the head of the bolt. I imagine this is to see if it has been tampered with. Good luck.

I had a 1980 Chevy that popped out of 2nd and 4th (didn't have 5th). It did it for a long time, getting steadily worse. I had a shop look at it finally and they said it was the cable, but when the replaced that it didn't help, and then they decided it was an internal problem -- a broken H fork. I had to get it replaced (got a used tranny, had a different place put it in). Now, I don't know much about the inside of a transmission, and wouldn't be surprised if a 1980 Chevy was completely different than an Integra, but I thought I'd share the experience anyway...
Your very low on fluid. Mine had zero in it.
Mechanic forgot to put oil in it. Thats y it started coming out of gear.
Axle popped out
Put new fluid in it. Drove for a few months then funny noises.
Dealer rebuilt transmission$1000

It fell out like 1 week ago and I didn't pay it any mind (I thought my passengers knee hit it out). I've driven about 1500 miles on it and then it popped out 3 times in one day. Could this still be the fluid or would my trans have died already (I did drive it hard as hell after it happened) . Also when going into third their is some tension then is goes in. My car also was shaking like crazy twice after I drove it hard. It would only shake if the clutch pedal was not depressed. It felt little my flywheel was warped. The problem went away afterI let the car sit for about 10 min. WTF is happening here. ALso reverse feels kinda funky

hey Hooptie, I had simular probles at 13,000. warenty gave me a new trani. It could be a syncros related problem --- https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=174630
