Upgrading to Vband exhaust housing....

How hard it is to get a vband housing for a t3/t4 turbo? Right now I have the Garrett 60 trim .63 A/R 4 bolt exhaust housing and it would make things 1000x easier getting a vband housing.
The only place that I notice might sell it is ATPTURBO and they state its only for when you purchase a turbo from them. I cant use an adapter as its for a AC manifold/downpipe and there isnt enough room for the downpipe to be extended.

you can get the adapter too, which bolts into your turbo housing and the other side is vband for your downpipe. i did this and it made my life 1000x easier. my entire exhaust is now vband cus its easy

i just ordered an adapter for the exact same thing from http://www.kms-fab.com/trans_vband.html the guys are awesome!! there also here on h-tech pm user "kordenbrock motorsports" whats listed on the site is an example im pretty sure they can do it anyway and size you want ie: 5 bolt to vband or 4 bolt to vband 3" 4" what ever they can do it. this was my first time dealing with them and i was really impressed

You still have to deal with bolts wanting to back out with the adaptors, not to mention they take up a lot of extra space that most don't have to work with.

you can always convert bolts to studs, and if they want to back out of the adapter then they would want to back out of the dp so you have that problem no matter what. extra space? ehh like 2" but im guess most people in this boat like myself are having custom dp built?

I had the adapter on my civic and it sux do it right the first time have it welded on the housing you will be happier in the long run Tony did mine and it turned out awesome

Its a ramhorn from AFI. Its a 4 bolt Garrett housing and the DP has already been made to fit this set up. I just thought I try switching housings or maybe weld on a vband on the downpipe and the housing. Sounds like the best way to go. Is it best to have the housing machined down and then weld on the vband? or can you just weld it on like is. I can mig weld it on myself which would probably help with pricing.
And ya the extra 1.5 inches is not really feasible as its for an AC manifold and it would more than likely hit the AC compressor if moved out further if I remember correctly.

Tony, this is what I was planning to do also....but one thing I was concerned about is all that heat from tig welding it to the exhaust housing on the turbo. Could that build up of heat do anything harm to the turbo? Should I weld it in small patches and allow it to cool in between or just weld and call it a day?

If I knew then I wouldn't be asking
I won't be taking the exhaust housing off the turbo if and when it's welded on. The turbo will be in one piece...if I took it apart then yea I know it wouldn't harm anything.

because the bolts backed out still ... then i put studs and nuts then tacked welded it. and it broke the welds and the nuts backed off.. After I had the vband welded to the housing I have had zero issues with it.
