Default Post your grams...

I would like to start making a database of part weights, gram wise..

stock rods,
aftermarket rods,
stock pistons
aftermarket pistons
rocker arms
cranks
valves
valve springs,

if anyone has any off hand, or wants to team up with me in making this database, think it could be of some use to tunners. Maybe a shop that sells parts wouldn't mind popping open a few boxes and whipping out that gram scale... hehe

The list so far...

Stock
h22
inner and outer spring = 49.5 gr
retainer = 12.9 gr
intake valve = 52.8 gr
exhaust valve = 47.2 gr
seat 8.6 gr
keepers(set of 2) = 0.95 gr
primary rocker = 88.9 gr
mid rocker = 98.1 gr
secondary rocker = 89.9 gr
LMA = 20.8 gr

Rocket Motorsports

inner and outer spring = 47.2 gr
retainer = 7.6 gr

So what exactly are "Tunner pistons" and "Tunner rods?" I've never heard of that brand.

It would help if you spelled "tuner" right....but it's kind of a taboo word now. I cringe when people ask me if I drive one of those "Tuner Cars"

Stock

inner and outer spring = 49.5 gr
retainer = 12.9 gr
intake valve = 52.8 gr
exhaust valve = 47.2 gr
seat 8.6 gr
keepers(set of 2) = 0.95 gr

primary rocker = 88.9 gr
mid rocker = 98.1 gr
secondary rocker = 89.9 gr
LMA = 20.8 gr

id say the crank. Its the only piece of the rotating assembly which you can REALLY drop some weight.

Quick question so I can add to this thread.

Where are you guys buying your scales?

I would prefer to find one that reads to 0.1 g's, but you all seem to only use 1.0 g increments.

Just pick one up from Radio Shack/Circuit City? Or do you go to one of your local "medicinal purposes only" smoke shops

so let me get it straight, a bunch of you pot dealers got bored and started weighing out car parts on your digital scales??

Blake thats a harsh generalization, rods and pistons are equally as viable to drop weight from the rotating assembly IMO.
