sv650s-storage+mods=pics
I picked up this 06 SV650s this past november with 1700 miles, a yoshi pipe and a fender eliminator. It had to go in to storage immediately due to NW weather and i literally spent maybe 20 minutes in the saddle, while it was raining. Technically i started buying parts for it before i even had it, and the pile only grew bigger. Here's the new mod list, and some progress pictures. Everything was done in less than 48hours. Pictures, room & board, tools, and some parts all provided by Peter Lombardi.
Mods:
01 GSXR750 forks, triples, wheel, rotors, calipers. Forks built for 175lb rider with gear.
04 GSXR front fender
Galfer SS brake lines
CBR954RR clipons
RC51 (SP1) master cylinder w/ pro tek billet resevoir cap
R6 throttle tube
z1000 bar ends
Custom tank risers and de-snorkelled airbox
pro grip tank pad
integrated tail light and custom fender eliminator
Kawasaki 636 rear shock
CBR F3 rear wheel with 46 525 sprocket on stock chain
Unfortunately running stock tires
Custom painted bronze wheels
Yoshimura TRS slip on
Used chin spoiler painted to match
new speed sesnor pieced together by yours truly
Sylvannia silverstar headlights
amber LED running lights
black short stalk turn signals
Factory frame sliders (yuck)

The install on the front end was extremely easy. The hardest part was bleeding the brakes.
The bike handles awesome. The 636 shock is pretty stiff, and makes the rear a little "bouncey" over bumps, but in corners it works very well. Turn in is incredible. Mid corner drive is great, and the downswept 954 clip ons are really nice for hanging off.

how does that shock feel?
and what year bike did you get it from? any major modification to the battery box or the tool holder looks like you cut it out or removed it but I can't tell?
edit, also how hard is it to de snorkle it? do you need anything in particular?

The shock is very stiff, but stable in the corners. For commuting on rough roads it's a bit draining. End up holding on to the tank alot to keep from bouncing off the seat. It's off of an 05 i believe. I hacked the tool box off because it's hideous, and i had to cut a corner out of the battery box for the resevoir, which the battery now rests on. I'm not sure if it's necessary to cut the tool box off, but it sure makes it easier to put the shock in. I also had to get a longer lower shock bolt and cut it to the right length to clear the dog bones.
de snorkeling is as easy as removing the snorkel from the front of the airbox. This leaves an open face on the front of the air box. Tonight i took the lid off of the battery box and enlarged the opening and rounded it more. The effect was unoticeable so it wouldn't be worth ruining a air box lid for.

I don't know if there is an advantage between the gsxr and the 636 but I do know that just about anything would be an improvement upon the stock sv suspension.
If I can get a decent shock for cheap i want to change mine out asap, but I'm cheap so I'm just going to put different springs and oil in my forks instead of putting on new forks.
