Project Yellow, painted out of a rattle can.
PIC UPDATED ON PAGE 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6!
Hi everybody, I have a project going on with my 89 si crx. 1st i traded it in with my old 95 stock eg for this 89 si crx with a jdm swap b16a. it an clean car, no rust or anything. until one day i wasn't happy about how this car looks and everything else. So i decided to rebuild it and repaint it yellow as the original color or the car. Note I'm painting this car out of a rattle can and see how well it turns out after wet sanding each coats and clear. here are some pictures..
this is how it looked when i 1st got it...
the paint was in okay shape, got a brand new vis cf hood with a sir bump in middle. and my rotas with new tires mounted on...

until one day i wasnt really happy with the paint and the body kit.. body kit was taken off and sold the next day..

got some 90-91 tails while i was at it

i was never happy with the look of the engine bay, it soo nasty, had a shitty black paint job. ruined the y-49 yellow paint that was under the black paint. so i striped everything just to repaint the engine bay.

the motor is out but it looks pretty clean, but not clean enough for me. i gonna clean the motor real good.

and look how nasty the bay looks

i didnt get the pictures of it all sanded down but here an pic of it primed

i figure while i was at it, i painted the wheel well to look fresh agian.
before:

and after on both sides:

then i painted the bay y-49 out of rattle can matched to oem paint and follow up by clear then polishing!

I polished the hasport motor mounts. it was dull and shitty looking. but it looks good now!

NEXT! is wire tucking!
here an little update with the wiretucking. i hope i did a good job with the wire tucking or did it right

Good Luck man, I think your gonna have a hard time convincing anyone that rattle can quality paint can match up to any good quality paint regardless of the wetsanding, but I'd still like to see what the finished product ends up looking like.

yeah i figure to try and see if rattle can job from dupli-color would work pretty good after all the wetsanding and polsihing. if not i can simply wet sand the exterior and get it sprayed. not a big of a deal tho
the interior and engine bay you really don't have to worry about. It will be shiney no matter what and I really want to able to notice the orangle peel if any but the outside is where hard work is going to be.
I rattle canned my engine bay and interior and door james. It came out ****. The extrior I left in the hands of a proffessional. but it appears you have time on your hands so go for it
