integra gas mileage?
did a search and i couldn't find any info on this. I found on Google that integra's make about 24/31mpg. However, i find that hard to believe. I am getting about 200 miles a tank. the tank is a 13gal i believe and the light comes on at 3 gal. so that means I am getting roughly 20 mpg. I have about 55k miles on the engine B18C1. What kind of mileage are your GS-R's getting and if my gas mileage is definitely below average, what might be my problem? thank you.
Recent changes:
oil change, new air filter, STP injector cleaner, fuel filter (6 months ago), NGK platinum spark plugs (6 months ago)
PS: i do, do a lot of city driving and living in SF, terrain does vary quite a bit.

Dude something is wrong with your car my 94 GSR got 335 to the tank without a/c in the winter. My 97 GSR turbo gets 250 out of a full tank. Also my 94 GSR I run 87 Octane cause I don't care about it. Both of my integra have 200K plus
I get about 22-23 'round town & my foot is always in it. I dont do much long hwy but if I do I can stretch to 30-32 mpg (36 one time on the way home from buttonwillow w/ 3/4 of a tank of 106 octane ul)
Climate & tire pressure are important, but driving style is most of it I think. I own this car cause I like to let the motor spin so I expect to see the mileage #'s I see. If you really want to dig deeper find a dyno shop w/ a load baring dyno (i.e. dyno dynamics) & check open & closed loop AFR while @ a cruise while watching a scanner...then you'll know.

Have you checked out your cat? When my old cat went out, I would go through a half a tank of gas on a night of deliverys. After I got my new cat installed, I can go 2-3 nights on a half a tank.

when i do hwy, i get about 28mpg i think. (280miles to a tank). but i haven't been doing much hwy recently. i do do some spirited driving every now and then for a 45seconds to a minute at a time. regularly, i shift between 3-4k rpm.
and oH!!!!! i have been getting a CEL. i think its the evap canister solenoid or something like that. However, ever since I resetted the ECU by disconnecting the negative battery terminal about a month ago, I have never gotten the CEL again. so would this be a problem?

Do you drive many short trips? If so, the engine runs much more inefficiently when it is cold. Calculate you true MPG for several tanks. Miles per tank will vary wildly. My lifetime average over 67000miles is about 28 MPG.

BS. I don't believe you.
I just did a search on archived topics in this forum (Integra forum) with "mileage" in the title, and there are 128 topics, many of which discuss and answer your question.

Believe it. On both the ITR and the GS-R, we consistently get 24-26 mpg in mixed city-highway driving, and 29-33 mpg on long-distance trips with no stopping - almost exactly the same numbers as Google says.

I think your problem is that it sure sounds like you are not keeping track of your mileage. For your next 4-5 tanks of gas, write down your mileage and how many gallons you put in the tank. Figure out the total miles driven and the total gallons used, and divide the two numbers to figure out your miles per gallon. I'm betting you're getting at least 24 mpg without even knowing it.

You're thinking of EPA estimates. Those numbers aren't EPA estimates. I'm betting they are actual mileage reported by folks who wrote the topic - and they're pretty darn accurate, based on my experience.

my gsr engine has about 70000 miles. i consistently fill up with 91 cuz i once accidentally filled up with 87 and threw a cel.
when i fill up i get about 8.2 gallons on the average in my civic gas tank. i get about 230-240 if i'm driving in a conservative manner and about 210-220 if i'm pissed off. so on the high side it would be around 29 MPG and on the low side its aruond 25.6 mpg.
i cant really complain cept that i'm filling up for 3 bucks a gallon

You can't estimate gas mileage if you don't fill your tank completely from an almost empty tank.
1/2-3/4 will not yield accurate results.

13 gallon tank in an integra?? i have an LS and my tank is like 11 ish or like 11.4... my integra has about 170k on it and i get about 280-300 miles/tank.. therefore about 26 or so miles/gallon.. i think if u re-do your calculations using the correct tank size u might be looking at about the right mpg
yeah thats your problem right there. Your calculations are based on a 13 gallon tank, but that is not how you do it. btw it is 11ish, when I fill mine up its just a little over 10, and thats on an empty tank.
1.Fill your tank...do not under/over fill the tank(and hit the button on the cluster)
2.Drive it till it is almost empty
3. Refill your tank (full again)
4.Check the gallons on the gas machine
5 now divide the mileage by the gallons....mileage on top...gallons on the bottom
your results should be better than you think.

my gas mileage has ranged from 14-31 on my 1994 ls.
it is consistently under 20 when i dont go on the freeway. most of my trips are short 3 minute ones when the engine is cold in the morning. the engine never gets a chance to warm up and therefore gas mileage blows.
the most crucial factor seems to be engine temperature and throttle position.

thank you everyone for your informative responses. I will drive the car all the way until the light comes on and then go fill up for the next few tanks to obtain an average of my estimated current gas mileage. I do however keep track of how many gallons i fill in there. It has been about about 10 to 11.5 gallons ( light hasnt come on yet).

I never realized that driving on a cold motor blows gas mileage. I do, do a lot of city driving, 10-20 minute driving trips in the morning without warming up my car. Why is that cold motor runs shittier? the last tank I filled up, I am at 1/2 right now and I have 98 miles.

For better accuracy, use several fill-ups. If you're using a bunch of fill-ups, it doesn't really matter whether you let the tank get almost empty or not.
Just make sure you fill the tank all the way up before you start keeping track of miles and gallons, and the last time you fill it.

Err... sort of. You're right that you shouldn't use the tank capacity (which is 13.2 gallons) for your calculations. You should use the actual number of gallons you put in the tank.

I have never stopped testing my fuel mileage....I do it every time.

news flash!!! so i calculated all the gas i have been dumping in and the miles i have been driving it. this calculation, i went 375 miles/ 17.623 gallons. that comes out to be about 21.28 mpg. how's that number for you guys?

what the??????????? your car hold 13.2 gallons
your doing it wrong again.......you dont need to be a rocket scientist to calculate gas mileage...
