Default shift light (already searched)

my brother and i are in the process of putting his autometer pro-comp shift light into my 92 dx (his car is a 90 si).

of course the power and ground were no problem, but we are stuck on which wire the rpm reading wire(green) needs to connect to on the cluster. no need to go into the engine bay, since we already have the cluster out.

another thread in the archived topics said it is the light blue wire on the far right (when looking at the rear of the cluster), but this does not work so far.

are we missing something? will this not work at all due to the lack of tach? since the car is prewired for one i would think this wouldn't be an issue. all help is much appreciated.

how did it work out?? im pretty sure that the rpm signal wire is a blue wire that is behind the cluster.. i have installed a remote starter, and monster tach to that wire and never had a problem.. the color of wire changes at the ecu i think.. it is also a blue wire in the drivers side stut tower wire harness..

man, this is getting frustrating! the blue wire behind the cluster isn't working for me, so i just went mad and started splicin' and dicin' in hopes of finding something that works. no luck, of course.

blue wire on the driver's side harness, huh? lemme go give that a shot too. i'll post back in a sec.

aarrgghhh!!! no luck with the wiring harness... yet. there appears to be two blue wires: one that is bright and solid blue, and another that is slimmer and has silver spots. anybody know specificaly the blue wire?

also, i'm using my cd player as my power source. could this be the culprit?

YES

what power wire are you using by the cd player?? is it a constant? or switched power source?? honestly man the easiest way to do it is go to the WHITE wire under the dash, a good GROUND wire or make a new ground, and the blue wire either int he strut tower harness, behind the cluster, or at the ecu.. i have installed many shift lights, tachs, vafc, remote starters and NEVER had a problem..
