hey again,
just did another compression test on my B18C5 engine.
#1: 150
#2: 150
#3: 30
#4: 150
obviously there is a major problem in the 3rd cylinder, i am guessing that i burned a valve up. because the engine seems to run fine, other than an occasional misfire code
the question is, that i have already replaced the valves in that cylinder. why would this happen again on the same cylinder?
i did everything but put the new valve in myself, and i wouldn't call this guy credible by any means.
should i just buy a whole new head, or am i looking at some serious issues?
if im gonna have this thing apart again, im doing it right all around, and all myself. any input is appreciated.

did you check the valves after he did them?? Did you replace springs and retainer's at the same time? Something is definately not right w/ it being same thing.. I would take head completely off and inspect your bottom end, then possibly replace you springs and retainers along w/ valves or just go aftermarket.

Looks like you are running pretty hot to.. What do you have your timing set @??

Yea seems a little extreme for a mild setup.. I wouldnt go so far w/ intake cam exspecially if you are going to retard the exhaust side.. Did you dyno those results?? Because I dont see you gaining HP w/ your head looking like that in the end..

I would say that while you had the head off you should have replaced your rings too. I would think if you had a hole in another valve your compression would be 0 on #3.

Sorry to hear that man.. Just take you time on this one, and do the work yourself so you know that it is good. Dont give up on it. You should also drop the oil pan, and look @ the bottom end and see if there is any hot spots on the cranks bearings ect.. And look in oil pan for any kind of metal shavings..

all your numbers are low... i put a hole in cyl3 aswell and when i put the head back on, i skipped the T belt(tensioner issue) then when i redid it again, did a compression check 200 300 150 200. so right now im thinking i either rebent valves or i killed some rings. gotta do a leakdown
Next time you replace the valves use valve grind. This will let the new valves properly seat in place. If not they may improperly seat and you will have a compression leak.

Yes, you need to pull the head (it's really not that much work, other than getting those mf'ing intake manifold bolts off) and look at the bottom end and the head. There's clearly something wrong, but all those comp #'s are off, unless the tester was bad or the procedure wasn't done correctly.

thats a possibility for sure
thats a possibility for sure
We need to just call up mike and have him rip the head off and replace : valves, springs, retainers, guides, clean the head up, inspect block for damage and call it a day. seriously ian i think he'd hook it up and he FOR SURE knows what he's doing. i'd honestly just replace everything with OEM gear but you know how i am about OE ****
