SSAUTOCHROME 60mm Wastegate.
I just recieved my SSAutoChrome 60mm wastegate which is a straight knock off of the HKS GTII 60mm gate. Believe it or not, this is a very nice part. I bought it off of their Ebay store for $130 shipped. I'll post picture when I arrive home.
The only reason I bought this part is because I had heard that it is a exact replica of the HKS GTII 60mm wastegate. The only difference is there is no name cast into the valve body.
Here are some pictures of one my friend bought and told me about..

I also read this from Matt@motorworx.com
"With the HKS GTII gate, I’ll go as far as to say HKS is having their gates made by whoever is making the gates for XS Power. Many miles now at boost pressures over 2.0 bar with no problems. The V-bands are not as good as the ones from HKS. My reasoning behind first using this part is that it’s one V-band to change it, and I can buy 8 of them before I get to the price of the part from HKS… The quality on these valves also kill the Turbonetics valves, and they’re way lighter than any of the other 50mm or larger valves."

Justin

why not just run dual 44's? or even dual 46's if you think you need it? youve got what looks to be around $10k+ invested in your motor/setup and all it takes is one boost spike from this thing to set you back a pretty penny. i mean i guess it looks kinda nice and all, but did you see any pics of the diaphram or internals?

Tial makes a 60mm. and thats good sh*t

no enginerring or testing of the materials behind that product.. I would be weary.. on the outside, it may look like it will hold up , but over time and countless heat cycles, will the diaphram and spring still perform??
something so critical like that, why skimp?

Here are some more pictures of the diaphragm and spring assembly. Its interesting that this wastegate comes with 4 springs of different rates. You can install 1 or all 4 depending on the boost level you want to set it up for. Also, there is a pretty trick adjustment on the top of the diaphragm to adjust preload on the springs. This is nice for dialing in the boost level.
I'm not using this for a 4 cylinder project. Its going on a single turbo modular v8 I'm doing. I agree this is a critical part of the turbo system. I wouldn't have bought this wastegate normally, but I had heard very knowledgeable people using these gates with good success.

somebodys gotta try it. yes its a vital part of the motor but someone's gotta be the one to take the risk. i wonder what people said when obx came out with their lsd's. now i know a bunch of cars making 600whp+ using obx's lsd's with no problems whatsoever.
i'd rock one!
i'm giving serious thought to buying that exact gate and using it on my D16Z6 with a little T3
overkill would be an understatement and it probably wont fit but the ricers will nut themselves if they see it.

Its all relative...i wouldn't compare it to a Tial 60mm by any means though..

bottom line...ill stick with my tial.
BUT: i am glad to see the quality of some of this knockoff **** is getting much better. this should force alot of the "name brand" companies to step their game up and make even better products.

TIAL FTW!

James Innes ran a real HKS GTII gate on his car with great success. The size of these valves isn't a major issue, although it will allow you to bypass a lot of exhaust gases around the turbo when necessary.
As I stated earlier this gate is being used on a modular 32v 284ci turbo build. I'm going to be using a single GT4780. With this much displacement and a large turbo, I will need to bypass a lot of exhaust gas around the turbo to keep the boost down in lower gears.
It is what it is. I will try and pressure test the actuator in the next couple weeks.

well i guess all i can do is wish you good luck and let you know that if your motor goes **** up, you probably know what the culprit is before you pop the hood. let us know how it works out for you
