Default Turn Signal Return? Broke Maybe?

So I was driving around tonight and went to signal for a right turn. While I was in the turn and turning my wheel back straight I heard a semi-loud snap. Then when my car was pointed straight the turn signal never shut off. Could someone tell me what has happend? I'm not exactly sure on how that Turn Signal return thing works. Will I need to replace anything? Thanks

there's this white plastic ring in your steering column, if i remember right, it's got tabs on it that kick the signal lever back to the middle when you turn the wheel. just a theory, you probably broke one of these tabs somehow, or the part on the signal lever that they push. see if you can find an exploded veiw of the steering column to see what has to come off to get to it.

more like this. the part above bolt 18 i think, you would probably want to look for it in a junkyard if you find it broken

Unsure if it is the same part for EK Civics, but I would imagine it is. BTW, the eStore on Honda Owner link is a great source for part images and numbers.

this happened to my 96 Ex there is a sprocket in the steering column and there are teeth on it and that is what kicks the signal off and sometimes the teeth break and it wont kick off. its no bid deal i had to bring it to the dealer to fix it i think it was like $300 to get it fixed.

or fix it yourself for the cost of the parts, ~$35.
it's really not difficult to do at all.
