Default Project EG2

Heh this is my 1st thread like this so take it easy on me.I blew my motor on jan 14th while autocrossing. It was a D16Z6, I decided that I will stay D-series and possibly boost it later but for now the main thing is to get my car back on the road.
I'll throw up a few pics of the car and progress as I go along.I just wanted to know are there any specific things I should do now that I am going to have the motor out?

EDIT: Motor is in the car. head/headgasket/headstuds have been replaced, got a large vacuum leak figuring out where it is coming from then should be able to drive the car.

Here is the car.

And here is a shot of it autocrossing

.

So there is absolutley no tech in the fact that I am going to be dropping the motor and wanting to know if there is anything I'm doing wrong?

Apparently if you have pictures in a thread, it should be in Appearance/Cosmetic....

Just to make sure you're not doing this, I see hood pin studs sticking up there, but nothing to secure them. Is that the case?

And yes, this is the right forum.

I wasn't a fan of the hood pins so they are sitting inside my Del sol it still latches so, I didn't worry about it. I purchased my motor. Came with a few goodies. Skunk 2 intake manifold, Jun cam gear and an AEM fuel rail to name a few.
Also came with a cable tranny and a 4 puck clutch but all that is going for sale.

I'm going to use the ACT flywheel it came with it is 212 MM so I'm okay and I have already ordered my Exedy clutch is there anything else that I should keep an eye out for when I drop the motor?

Right now I have everything just about unbolted, does anyone have any suggestions on how to lower the motor, because as it sits right now if I lower it it has quite a ways between it and the ground, and even though I don't need this motor anymore there has got to be a better way to do this.

i dont think anyone here is going to hold ure hand......but you can lower it onto a roller, unbolt the chain. then raise the car up with the engine hoist, then slide the motor out from under.

That would be a D16Y7/8 valve cover, polished.

Yep. I'd search around if you need help, there are literally DOZENS of threads with good information on how to swap X engine into X car.

Ugh broke my Nikon D50 so it will be a while before I can get some more pics. I have the motor in the car though, everything is hooked up. When I start the car it idles at like 2k, and won't rev any higher than that. It has a JUN camgear on it. Tomorrow I will attempt to adjust the cam gear back to what apears to be normal timing( I think it is advanced, previous owner claimed to have gotten 128 WHP with it). Also the distributor is moved all the way towards the front of the vehicle.I'll pick up a timing light and get it back to normal.
I also have a check engine light on when the car is running but when I go to check it by jumping the service connector I get nothing.
Any ideas as to what could be wrong if necesary I can get some pics of what I'm talking about.

Get your timing worked out before trying anything else. That NEEDS to be correct. Adjust the cam gear to 0 first, then use the timing light.

i think you're over estimating the worth of your post.

there are dozens of swap posts here.

if you have a question you should post them as they come up.

i mean if you have a problem, a post that states

"i can't get it started"

will find an answer quicker then posting "i can't get it started" in a post named "project eg2"

but whatever.

Drove it around teh block today. Smoking a little bit. . . I am getting codes for Map sensor, TPS, and IAT. Don't know why those codes are coming up. I'm using the same sensors off of the other motor.

What front bumper is that? That might be the only Del Sol front-end I've ever seen that I liked.
