Default D16A6/Y8 mini-me adjustable cam gear question

I'm running a PG7 ecu and V-ACF for vtec. Right now I have my cam gear set at 4 degrees advanced. It pulls strong from 3.5k -> 5.5k but after that vtec kicks and it seems to lag a bit. I'm still planning on either getting the fpr from an EG or just getting an adjustable one. My question is, when vtec kicks does it advance or retard the timing? I've seen some people say they're running anywhere from 2degrees to 4degrees retarded for this setup. Where should I set my cam gear?

This is my setup:
stock d16a6 bottom block
stock d16y8 head with AEM Adjustable Cam gear
stock d16a6 IM
stock d16a6 header/exhaust (i will try gutting out cat, might be clogged)
PG7 ecu, I also have PM6 and PR4 I can use

Could some of you post where you guys are setting your cam gears to with a similar setup?

After some more searching this is what I found. I know for a fact that I have the y8 head but I think I have the z6 adj. cam gear which is this one.

The Y8 cam gear should look like this

notice how the grove for the key is off by around 4 degrees

This would lead me to believe that if I was using a y8 bottom end I would have to set the cam gear to around 4 degree advanced to get the stock timing for d16y8.

In my case, since I have the d16a6 bottom end, Should I leave the markings at 0? or what? thanks

I dont know the answer sorry. Isn't there some cam website like crower or something that tells how to degree the cam?

Do you know if there is a good OBD0 ECU to run with a d16z6 head d16a6 minime setup? could i use a pwo ecu? I ran my del sol with the d16z6 with a b16a ecu and it had more power.
