Default Rotrex powered EDM ITR!?!

http://video.google.com/videop...96874

^
Video of an EDM ITR on various European tracks. Rotrex powered.

Does anyone know anything about Rotrex powered superchargers? I know Jackson is now using Rotrex chargers, BUT why did he switch? I thought centrifugal chargers had all the negative affects of the roots blowers and turbos. What makes the Rotrex supercharger stand out?

Thanks

J/W

Has me thinking... could it be Rotrex > Roots

The little bit I heard about the Rotrex stuff was that although it's sort of the centrifugal design, it has no lag whatsoever, just like the previous roots-type blowers Jackson used did. The benefit though is that they can generate more power, and maybe have lower intake temps. This is what I heard briefly though, I have no idea how accurate it is.

Edit: Also, that Nova's rear bars are a nightmare. Sure, they're pretty and all, but functionally? Yagh!

That would make this an easy, reliable, effective set-up then if it performs that well. All you would essentially need to make is a mounting bracket.

Did you click on the link to the Nova!! Holy smokes!! Dual A/W intercoolers behind the fenders with semi-tubed front and rear.

Roots type blowers cannot match the adiabatic efficiency of a centrifugal blower or turbo.

Centrifugal blowers provide airflow proportional to the the blowers speed, while roots type provide the same airflow regardless of RPM.

Centrifugal blower can also easily integrate an intercooler or aftercooler.

For front drive traction limited cars a centrifugal blower may be the best bet.

No show for sure.

Looks like Axel Foley's car from Beverly Hills Cop.

Centrifugal superchargers vary in gearing. Some, as I would assume the rotrex is, have gearing set so that it will produce boost quickly. The disadvantage of that is that it's limited to how much boost it may produce. That is what I have understood. Also a major advantage of the centrifugal over the roots is (as someone had already mentioned) it's reduced intake temperatures, and ability to be intercooled.

Wasn't there a post a while back about this Nova for sale for something like $40k?

Anyone else think it sounded like a person making the "blowoff noise"

Centrifugal superchargers have blow off valves because they're placed in front of the throttle body.

Are we talking about the same supercharger here? What is it called if isn't centrifugal?

Its called a Rotrex SC or a traction drive centrifugal SC

ok, well it is a form of centrifugal blower, but works in a differant way using a traction drive system (not gears) which alows it to have the low end abilities of a roots blower and adiabatic efficiency of a turbo.

idk, it just doesnt seem like anybody is talking about rotrex blows at all.

read a little on http://www.rotrex.com, maybe u will learn something.
