Default jdm vs udsm foglights please help

I searched but couldnt find.. if I order a "foglight kit" from an american dealer.. how does it compare to a jdm foglight? I can get a good set of jdms, but they don't have a switch. I looked around and didn't find much. Are the jdm's better than the udsms?(like usual?). What color are the usdms?
Also, if I do buy the jdms, can I get a generic switch that fits into one of those blank switch things in the center console? Does the usdm switch fit in that location?
thanks, please help me out.

For the 4th gens, to the best of my knowledge, the usdm fogs only came in clear color. The JDM amber colored fogs are option in Japan.
For the fog switch, 92 and 93 ludes have them mounted on the drivers tweeter, 94-96 ludes are beside the eBrake on the center console. Switches are very rare, esp. for the 92 and 93 ludes. Go for the JDM amber IMO. I never heard of the "fog kit" you mention.

i would like the ambers, they are unique, but they are rediculous $$ And very rare.. but are you saying that the clear udsms and clear jdms are the same? the "kit" is available at hondautomotiveparts.com under accessories once you enter you car.
Can't the foglight control be wired to one of the blank switch locations on the interior of a 92-93? Isn't there some honda switch that will look clean that goes in there, or is it something special? I would prefer it down there over putting it in front of my tweeter.
thanks for the help
mike.

u could use a generic switch that woul fit in there. but there was only 2 fog switches from honda the one for the tweeter 93- and the one for the center console 94+. I would show u a pic of my 94+ fog switch but my camera batteries are charging. and the color of the lense is the only difference between jdm and usdm. i have owned both.

okay, so is it possible the use the 94+ fog switch in my 93? There are slots for extra switches, I know it would physically fit, but can it go there wiring-wise?What would prevent you from mounting the 94+ switch there? Are the harnesses, etc different? Also, does the car ring/beep if you leave them on when setup the oem way? If they aren't controlled by the headlight stalk, I doubt it, but how do you remember to shut them off? lol

im 90% sure the 94+ switch is smaller then the slots on the 93 console. and wiring wise you just need to extend the wires from the tweeter area to the center console. ill be doing this sometime soon as soon as i get a new front bumper prev owner cut the fog mounting **** out of my bumper

haha, dude...900questions.

anyway...the fogs if wired the oem way...only come on with the low beam headlights.

the 94+ switch wont work for the wiring of the 93-. plus the location of the original wiring harness for the 93- is behind the tweeter cover. for the 94+ the fog harness was taped with blue tape to the hazard light switch in the center console.

Anybody got good pics of 4th gens with fogs? What parts would I need to completely install the USDM fogs? Hondaautomotive has a ton of parts that go with the fogs and it seems hella expensive.

There are actually 3 switchs. the is the 92-93 that goes by the tweeter.

there is the switch which is about the size of the hazzard and goes beside the hazzard in the console.

and the third is the jdm which goes in one of the four slots by the arm rest or in a unit that sits where the cup holder is.

and this is the unit that replaces the cupholder and has extra spots for switchs

And the 5th gen has a fog light switch that is the same size as the sunroof/dimmer/cruise.

I'm pretty sure those fog light kits have been out of stock at hondautomotiveparts for YEARS. The fog lights themselves are the same as EG ones, just different brackets and bezels.

This is my switch on the 93, USDM switch with the original OEM tweeter cover that came with the switch. It belongs there, why mess with the wiring to place it somewhere else?

forget that OEM switch crap...its all convoluted...I just wired mine in with the parking lights, simpler, cheaper, and I don't have to have the headlights on to have the fogs on....
