Default heres my first port and polish......

i tried posting this up before, but no one had anything to say about it. and i definately seek everyones approval on this. i just kept it really simple and cleaned everything up. not bad for using a dremel huh?

and NOOO i did not grind down the guides. i removed them to replace with Si Bronze as soon as i get around to it. any input would be greatly appreciated.

Cool....so all you need to do port and polish is s dremel tool??

I wouldn't trust myself doing it though, I'll probably mess something up.

Props to you.

We need to see some pictures of the bowls.... take a combustion chamber shot out of the intake ports and exhaust ports. Your short turn radius on the middle divider seems un-symetrical. Did you enlarge the bowls or just do casting cleanup?

I can't really tell much from these pix but did you grind down the valve guides? And this **** looks little to smooth, maybe it's just me. The surface has to be fairly rought, polished surface isn't good.

I took the valve guides out to be replaced.

how much would someone charge to flowbench something like that? i really dont care too much to tell you the truth. im just sure anything is better than stock.

ill get the pics on later. it was basically just a casting clean up but i polished everything up as well. i know its not perfect and symmetrical on the web and i guess i should fix that, but i really just followed the contours of the casting. and when i tried to give it a little knife edge i didnt like what i was doing so i just left it. now i know what to work on.

thanks for the help everybody.

Two tips i would give are to blend the seat into the throat a bit more and also to kick out the corners of the short turn a bit, the increase in volume will help slow the incoming charge and help it to navigate the turn.

well, its not quite as mirror shiney as it looks by the way. i never went above a 120 grit. the last couple pics show the texture of the metal a little better. i think in the first pics i had just greased it up so it looks super polished.

Missed this earlier.. Its not rocket science you just need to learn the terminology associate with the art of porting.

Dont laugh, i made this in MSPaint just now to help.

sorry i took so long to get the pic. but heres the combustion chamber. im not going to deshroud it, my lack of expertise comes into play on that one, and i cant trust myself not to mess it up.

i also read from a reputable source to leave the little dips behind the seat on the exhaust side otherwise you mess up the flow characteristics, so i took that advice. in which case, i should open the short side turn up a little more if i want any good increase in flow, but its not worth the risk.

I think if i cut away there, ill just give it a bit more of a straight shot, but im lookin for some advice on that one.

Yeah, where you marked in the port with pink is where the material needs to be removed. Also, from the pics you've shown the bowl area looks nice. Open up the short turns a little and make sure you check the radius around the turn to see if its a smooth transition.
You should give pics lookin out the ports through the chamber. I need to see the short turn from the chamber side.

not bad for your first port
keep at it and you will become better at judging where to remove meterial and where not to.
your judgement seems to be on the right track.
just listen to the pros, i'm sure that they won't lead you in the wrong direction.
?? is that a h series head??
