thanks</TD></TR></TABLE>
i think its too harsh unless all you do is comptete and win money to fix your car. i had full disk unsprung, it would always grip but it would engage more harsh. if you know how to shift, its really not needed, not when most of the driving consist of street driving.

yup imo unsprung dics suck very badly on the street my boy had on on his eg hatch and i hated driven his car becuase of it.i rather have 4 or 6 puck sprung dics. now i see why they put OFFROAD/RACE USE ONLY on them clutch boxes.
lol yea i mean dont get me wrong for straight drag racing it be great to use cause your trailering your car to the track but as for everyday not good ideal.even my boys get a sprung one this time.

I think it depends, which brand you use.
I had a Clutch specialties unsprung 6 puck and it has the same or less clutch chatter then another brands sprung disk 6 puck clutch. Both grabbed really hard between shifts when racing.

my action 2md (unsprung 6 puck) does not chatter at all. it engages like a light switch but once you get used to it there's no problem. It's my daily driver and I like it.
they are harsh on engaugment,drivetrain.. flywheel and pressure plate.... most of the time depending on the material used for the pads, they will eat into your pressure plate and flywheel, sometimes leaving them unuseable
but if you need one you need one

I got the 6 puck unsprung on my current setup.
I would not buy it again, it is harsh daily driving. Get used to chatter, its your best friend. Now launching it is the ****, but daily driving sucks.
My next will be a sprung clutch again.

yea cause they just slam up against the flywheel.

The reason for sprung hubs is to reduce noise. It has nothing to do with engagement. Go call any clutch manufacturer and ask them.
I drive on the street all the time with an unsprung ACT 6puck.. there is no chatter.. you guys just need to learn the sweet spot of the clutch.

Care to explain your self, and what company your talking about? I've never have a problem with ACT in any way, sprung or unsprung!

What clutch company have you personally seen the springs just fall out?
I'm willing to bet that if you are running a clutch disc under the rated torque, then you will never have a problem with a sprung disc from a reputable company. Of course there will be defects every now and again, but you should'nt have a problem; a lot of people just keep pushing a clutch way pased it's rated TQ, and this is when you run into problem!

my ACT unsprung never squealed, but it definitely chatters more than the sprung version. I definitely prefer the sprung 6 puck from ACT..........

Iv installed like 50 puck clutches...so all brands i guess. I would say 80% of the broken clutches i was replacing were from the springs breaking in some fashion. Personally i ran the unsprung ACT R6 disc in my d16t and i run one now on my b16t. The first one was quiet the one i have now squeals if you slip it a lot, i assume because of a more (all?) metallic puck composition. Im still happy with it though, I can have a reasonable pedal, less rotating mass, and great holding power.
