Default low idle...

In the past month or so i've been noticing the idle drop a little low. Normally the idle at start is about 1.5k and gradually drops to 700-1100. That's still the case except after driving for a few miles and coming to a stop... the engine slows to about 400-500. Occasionally it will dip really low, almost to stall, but then it comes back to about 600... and it starts to slow again. When I tap the gas, it dips... then revs up. If I tap the gas really slow... or blip it real fast (like to downshift), there's no appearant problem.

I just had the dealer adjust the valves and it still seems to be a problem. I'm also coming up on an oil change.

Thanks!

Try adjusting the idle by turning the idle screw on the throttle body. Use a flat head screwdriver and turn it counter clockwise to raise the idle. Do it in small incriments. Also try resetting your ecu.

That seems like a good workaround for now... but what about the actual problem? I'll try the ecu as well. Thanks!

Reset the base idle speed. Warm up engine, unplug iac, use brass tb screw to adjust the base idle to around 500rpm. Turn off engine, plug iac back in, reset ecu. Messing with the screw without unplugging the iac will cause lots of headaches. If this doesnt fix it, troubleshoot the tps.

intereseting developement....

I was changing oil the other day when I realized that I pulled a fram filter off. I remember reading some crap about frams being poop just after i put i on. It sounded like a rumor or a handful of people who experienced bad luck... But oddly enough, the car's idle has somewhat returned to normal since I replaced it... It still dips when i tap the throttle but the idle seems steady...

Mind you, I only changed the oil yesterday so not a whole lot of data to go by, but I should mention that I drove in stop and go traffic today and didn't notice it at all.

Thanks for all the suggestions,
I'll keep an eye on this...

Well... it's been a week and the car seems to be running better than it has in a while. The only thing I did was change oil and filter.

Kennya, sorry I couldn't be more helpful... unless you've got a Fram filter... oh.
