Default Recommended reading for learning techniques?

I'm getting more into racing... i just started autox'ing about a month ago. I'd like to polish my skills and learn some techniques. I know a driving course would be the best, but are there any books out there to get? I have saturday detention and i need something to keep me occupied

Sorry, can't help you for Sat. detention, but even still I am in the process of reading "Going Faster! Mastering the Art of Race Driving" The Skip Barber Driving School. I find it very interesting and thought provoking- they analyze EVERYTHING. I'm using it as a preface to driving school which I am planning on taking very soon. Hope this helps a little.

I'll second "Going Faster", it's an excellent book, well written, entertaining (not boring at all) with TONS of info...i read most of it over the winter, and still go back and reread stuff to refresh my memory. Carrol Smith has a few good books out too.

There was a thread not too long ago that recommended the same book, so I ordered it, and am about a 3rd of the way through it. So far, it is highly recommandable.

"Bob Bondurant on High Performance Driving" is another good one - and is a bit less overwhelmingly technical than "Going Faster!" is. Good stuff. Available at just about every Barnes & Noble I've been in.

This http://www.soloracer.com/solosecrets.html or this http://www.soloracer.com/goingfaster.html. Both are excellent books, the latter being more technical and focusing more on road racing.

carroll smith - "drive to win" for driving technique.
carroll smith - "tune to win" for car set-up information.
