Default Rear bar that goes under the rear seats

I noticed something about the ITR that I hadn't noticed before. On my ITR I have a black bar that is bolted underneath the rear seats. I believe is serves the same purpose as the Do-Luck Rear Cross Bar that I've read about. I also remember that someone mentioned this bar under the rear seats came with DC2's 96+.

I've got a 94 RS and a 96 GSR and it doesn't have this cross bar. I tried searching the archives and through Baranco's site trying to find this bar.

My question is, is this bar standard on the ITR's only?

I've taken the rear seats out numerous times to run stereo cables/wires and don't remember seeing anything like a bar there. I'd look through the online parts catalog but 56k does me no justice here at my store.

Are you sure it wasn't something custom?

Oh whatever, LOL. I didn't know, I didn't get a close look at it before I had to go back to work so I was just curious. I thought it was a bar cause I thought it would reinforce the area. But that would explain why I couldn't find it anywhere on Baranco, unless I missed it. I just wanted to try to buy it and put it on the GSR if it actually did anything to help.

Wow, I wanted to put those things on the GSR but I'm about to do the opposite and removed them from the ITR!

I havent quite figured out if they will do any harm or good, I've always taken them out of the civics I've owned with no ill effects.

iirc, it was put in later model cars to keep up with side impact laws...

so you wouldn't know the benefits unless you were t-boned

the positioning of the 3 plates/braces are in an almost optimal spot (low center of gravity and center/rear) in the car that it won't affect anything but straigtline speed...

if anything, it helps the F/R weight distribution of our cars

Funny this thread came up. I just happen to have that part(s) in the carport. It does come in three pieces that bolt together and mount under the seat.

haha yall are crazy. But thanks that's exactly what I was talking about. I thought it was extra support for the chassis but apparently it's not. I'm probably gonna take them off just for the heck of it. Take some extra weight off the car so I don't have to take it off myself!

BTW, maybe I can weight it, I have a scale so we should be able to get an approximation.

As a means of safety, I wouldn't. The only reason mine is out is because of the cage.

It's all right, I hardly get a chance to drive my car anyways. I'll put them back in eventually. I just want to know the weight of the peices.
