Default What should I do about my bearings? LS motor confusion

When I took my motor apart the bearings that were in the motor from the last rebuild (which was when i didnt own the car) werent the same as the ones listed on the block.. Now I noticed that the bearing on the number one cap, or heck i cant remember for sure now. it was number one or number 5 but it had worn pretty bad for only having maybe 30K on it, It had already worn down to the copper. I thought maybe this was because of them not putting the correct bearings from what was stamped on the block back into it? So what should I do, buy bearings that are the same color as the ones that I pulled out or buy bearings the same color that have been stamped on the block?

if you are talking about the rod bearings, then they have to be matched to the crank, not the block. the one on the block indicate the crank/main cap/bearingsize

Go to Honda and ask for the Green colored main bearings. They provide enough tolerance either way. That's what I did on my B16A2, and going strong.
Good Luck!

ummm, NO.
Use plastigage to check clearances or measure everything with the proper tools.
I would start from what the block/crank code tell you. If the bearing
is worn down that much, i would check the crank to see if the journals are
still round.

For future refrence, #1 is closest to the crank pulley... Now, speaking of crank pulleys, did this engine have a billet (underdrive) pulley on the crank?? They destroy main bearings.

Thats a load of crap.
Timing belts do more damage to main bearings than a properly balanced underdrive
pulley.

Ahah. For similar results, try not using any bearings at all. I heard the aluminum in the block lasts longer than those cheap bearings...

How much do bearings run?? If you measure and they are the wrong size can you return them? I know these are totally newbie ???s but I have never rebuilt a honda motor before and I am going to try it.

player price is $170 a set. and no you can't return them once you've opened them. especially if they were special order.

I bought my bearings for the LS from http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net

they take a while to ship, but they have great prices.

You need to match the crank bore markings on the block (should be like CCCCC or DDDDD etc..) with the crank journal sizes stamped on the crank. Buy the bearings that match both (look in the Helm manual).

Then assemble everything with the new bearings and plastigauge each to make sure it is in clearance. If it is way out, swap that particular bearing out for the next size larger/smaller to get it closer to spec.

Yah I guess we're both pretty dumb. I don't see lettering on there either.

OK, so I went out and looked at my crank. I found the letters and numbers on the crank. They are hard to see in person so I understand why we cant see them here. There was one letter different from the rest "b" then on the part of the crank the rods will coneect to there were mostly Bs and one A. Where on the block are the cooresponding letters? What is the solo "B" for? How do you pick rods bearings? Thanks

EDIT: my Helms is on the way, so maybe it will solve all my problems, but I doubt it.
