ALL MOTOR AP2 vs AP1 S2K, highest WHP numbers
hey guys
i did a search and didnt find what i was looking for.
but i was wondering:
1. For an NA build, would the AP2 or AP1 put down higher WHP numbers?
2. What is the absolute highest WHP numbers i could achieve on an S2K with an NA build?
i love turbos, but i really love the sound and throttle response of NA and i plan to use the S2K when i get it for mainly just road racing, autocross and messing around on the mountain passes
thanks
matt

well i would say it depends on what you want to do with it.. stock bottom ends vs. built etc..
cant say no to displacement...
there are a few stroker kits out there...
when ever i feel like building my S2K in the future i will be doing the budget 2.4 with teh K24 crank and h22 pistons and rod in my F20C...

What is the compression ratio from the h22 pistons compared to the f20? Or is the benefit strictly displacement?

It all depends on how far you want to mod and how deep your pockets are. NA and high hp = expensive. We've seen over 300whp NA but I don't remember the exact number. It wasn't a street legal car, track only
well, i would build it over time, no money is really not an issue
and i would go ALL OUT into it, built motor, the whole deal
with Pistons, cams, rods, head gasket, RACE header (no cat), intake, throttle body, exhaust, fuel injectors, and a few of the other NA minor add ons, tuning
would i be better off building the ap1 or ap2?
what kind of numbers could i achieve from the mods above
and what kind of numbers from JUST the mods below
intake, header (no cat), exhaust, tuning
thanks

You gotta remember man, and ap2 is just a stroked f20 with a different head.

I think its the same as the s2000. Benefit is the extra .4 liters of stroke, but its a PITA to do this build because of machining and not enough people have done it.

machining is something that goes with every build... i would have done this build long ago if i built my S but i dont car to... but the info is out there so people should use it!

I know somwone hit almost 300whp NA.
He had 2.5L Stroker, ITB's and AEM EMS. His engine didn't last long though...
If you want to get good numbers from NA, you better start with inlinePRO's block. CR= 15:1 :D

what would happen if you had the ap1 head on an ap2? lol?
might be dumb question
yeah, this will be on pump gas, so no 15:1 compression
have you guys been able to rev the ap2 engines out to like 9 or 10k?

you got a write up on it besides the one that was in Turbo Mag?
I know you need a k24 crank, h22 rods, h22 pistons.
The only thing I dont know how to do is to modify the crank to accept the rods and rotate properly in the block.

Catback, Test pipe, K&N filter, VAFC... Tuned = Made 210/130
i wouldnt mind building my S2k, but i have my 240sx for power,
And the S2K for cruising/looks....
NA+ high HP = LOTS OF MONEY....
if u want power, id look into F/I - Turbo or S/C

You need alot of bank. N/A is expensive, and once you start getting into ITB's reliability is drained and tuning takes up most of the mod money. Ill have ITB's up and running by this time next year I hope.

I believe u shim 2mm off the rod or crank but I would do the rod.... And then notch the block to ensure rod clearance....

Its 4mm each rod (2mm each side).

not a bad idea, but either way, i will have to save up cash
i can get an 04 for pretty much the same price as an 03, might as well get an 04, unless anyone thinks the 04-05's arent as good?
if ITB's arent very reliable, then i probably will stay away from that, but well see
would this be a good start?
J's Intake
J's Header
J's Exhaust
or are there companies that make better power than J's?
amuse, T1R, spoon, mugen?
thanks guys
