Best Tire For The ITR??? Need Help
I have the Bridestone RE730s 195/50/ZR15s right now and they have been eaten up pretty badly. I'm looking to spend about $400 for 4 tires, what can I get price wise and whats a kickass tire? Kuhmo? Falkens? More RE730s??
Thanks
Thanks
It depends - really a 195/55 and 205/50 are essentially the same.
IMO wider is always better - and I like the look of 205's on a stock rim better than the OEM 195s. The carcass of the 205 will likely be a bit heavier - but you will have more choice of tires in the 205/50 size. I also think that the Type R is "under tired" in USDM form. The Japanese get 215's on 7" rims on theirs - we get wimpy 6" rims.

Hey, ignore the advice about getting Yokohama A032R. First of all, they're much higher than your target price. (They're $134/tire at Tire Rack.) Second, since you're concerned about cost, this is not the tire to get. It's a track tire and at most you can expect about a third as many miles on them as on most street tires. (Treadwear rating is 60.)
The Yokohama A032R is a great track tire. But the cost per mile is going to be at least three times more than any street tire.

I dont have a problem with the cost as much as quality tire for the $$$
This is my second pair of tires and I only have 24k miles on the car hahaha
The 010s didnt last very long at all
I should mention what I do with the car:
Auto X 3-4 times per year
Drag race 3-4 times per year
Drive the car hard

I keep hearing good things about the Falkens

I'm trying to get Just Tires, Discount Tire, or Americas Tire Company to price match them

Looks like $73 each shipped to my front door
Sounds cheap
They come in 205/50/VR15
No problems with that tire on the rim??
How is road noise? Handling? etc?
Thanks for all the help Phat Bastard

I was going to recommend the RE730's but I see you already have used them. I was wondering how you liked the RE730's for drag racing visits ?, did they grip very well off the line at launch ?. I just put on some new RE730s first impression is that they are a great tire, they seem to handle very nicely, I love them so far. I haven't launched with them yet, just taking it easy for the firt few miles, but i would be interested to hear how they grip in straight line situations as I plan to take them to the 1/4 mile strip a couple times this season. My stock Michelin tires sucked *** in traction. I also used some Pirelli 7000's but the RE730s are much better of a tire IMO.
I have not driven on Azenis yet. But they are a very popular lo-cost tire.
I just got a set of Pirelli P-Zero C R-compounds in 225/45-16. They are badass! Can't wait to put them on......

I'll go with some more RE730s if the Falkens are not available
I have liked the tire, it has done well for me in auto x and in 1/4. I cut only cut 2.3 60' times with them but this is my first FWD car and I'm not the best driver in the world hahahahahaha
Excellent tire, though they dont last long hahahahah

I have the Azenis and i like them scince they only cost 280.01 shipped to my door and I think they are the best bang for the buck.
If you want to try them I had before these the Yokohamas A022, although they are lighter and a bit more responsive they offer more noise and less traction and cost about 135-145 per tire. The A022 come in stock size and give a nice ride/ and look very close to the RE010
