Anyone here notice Mobile 1 burns up fast?
Anyone here notice that using mobil 1 or most other brand name synthetic oil that it burns up fast. Even on new/fairly new cars. Anyone experience this?
Unfortunately, this is fairly common with many of us ITR owners. I just switched to Valvoline Synthetic this oil change and <knock on wood> oil consumption has seemed to vanish. We'll see in another 1K miles when it needs changed.
I used to burn around 1-1.5 qts per oil change and at the 2K mark I haven't burned any oil yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this was the solution.

The only reason to "find out" you're quart and a half low is to not check it often enough.
Relax. Take your time... check your oil... start the car... let it warm up. Don't be in such a hurry, eh?
I used Mobil 15W50 and I could literally get the car to PUFF blue from the Zigen 304 Speed I was using before....
I checked everything when it came to compression/leak down testing and I'm solid....my car makes good numbers.
Mobil 1 just doesn't seem to last no matter what the weight is in many of my friend's Hondas. The last car to successfully use it was a 98 Prelude Base.
My mom's VW Jetta seems to like it though....

I also use Mobil One, 5w-30 full synthetic on my 2000 Si. Car is not a daily driver and not driven really hard. Oil consumption seems to be in check. I changed over to Mobil One at 12k miles. I read that the Valvoline full synthetic works very well. Anyone using Valvoline synthetic? Comments?

I doubt we need to talk about oil very much after this in-depth discussion...

Ditto. Switched to Castrol GTX after Mobil 1 was disappearing 1.5qts every 3k miles. Yuck.
Mobil 1 burns for me too.
Motul SV synthetic is a little more stable
I'm going to try the Castrol next
