Default The truth about ebaydms (the one piece headlights were curious about)

We've all read these huge topics about these headlights
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1537395
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1556334
without anything ever coming of them. So since I decided to order a pair I figured I'd fill everyone in on my experience with them.

First off I ordered these off 'racing_guys' whos store can be found here http://stores.ebay.com/racing-guys-store however when I received the item they camed packed with option racing logos and such, whos store can be found here http://stores.ebay.com/OPTIONRACING. From what I've seen the racing_guys store only carries the chrome and black housing headlights while the option racing carries the black housing with amber corner. From the looks of the auction and the writing appearing on the lenses it APPEARS(do not blame me if you order them and they are not) they are the same brand which is 'spring' a company I was unable to find any information about.

Anyway onto the lights, I decided to order a pair of the black housing headlights because I need to pass inspection ASAP and would not have had time to finish my current project of painting my chrome stanleys black. Paid for on Friday, shipped on a Monday and received the following Friday was an excellent turn around time considering other ebay experiences I've had. As stated earlier they came packed in an option racing box, not packed very well but undamaged none the less.

Upon taking them out and examinging them I was quite impressed overall quality and craftsmanship other than a little misplaced silicone.

And one of my JDMs, EbayDMs, and my work in progress behind.

About an hour of tedious work and cussing to free up some 12 year old bolts and I was well on my way to having them installed when I hit a bump, apparently they decided the outer bracket was just going to be for show.

After playing with it to no avail I decided that the headlight assembly was on there well enough with all the other bolts lining up properly and not allowing any movement or loose feeling to the headlight I decided to continue on and stick with them. The final results came out to look like this.

Look ma' no lines . I actually haven't decided which look I like better yet.

I did as best as I could in the pictures to show fitment and such but incase the pictures aren't enough they line up very well, to my eyes no noticeably different than my stanleys that I test fit prior to putting these on so that I could compare.

And last but not least lightbeam pictures taken from the drivers seat.
Close up.

And further back, I must've moved but I'm not taking another one you can see the idea.

All in all I'm happy and would recommend these to anyone who is not caught up on having to be official JDM and is just going for looks or a nice replacement or set of backup headlights. But of course everyone worries about the same thing...water leaking. Well it's cold out and I'm tired so I'm not taking out the hose I'll update you guys when it rains or next time I get a carwash on how they held up. Til then...

Thanks for posting that up.

Sounds like these would be a good candidate for a retrofit...

I had the "jdm" black housing w/ amber corner on my prelude for a few months now, the fitment is alright and so far no water's leaked in or other headlight problems and they match pretty well with the amber bumper lights.

Ether Way I should slap you for having those for months and not posting your amber corners. Now post in this thread. If you do I will post my work in progress "PS3 Prelude Installation Guide" on here. Got Linux running on the thing finally and its pretty sweet. The possibilities are limitless and in order to steal the thing you would literally destroy the PS3 in the process. Go Go Virginia Tech Engineering!!!

Thanks for posting about the ebaydms!!!!

I wouldn't be worried about these headlights not fitting. I instead would be concerned about condensation, and leaks. Let us know how they hold up thru rain.

they do look very nice without the lines and the overall output of light seem fine and not distorted. let us know about the leakage if any.

Nice post man. I too was wondering if anyone has purchased these and what they thought about them. Anyone else have them for an extended period of time and experienced any leaking or other problems.

lol, I was gonna post up a nice detailed review a couple months (ago when I actually got em) but looks like someone beat me 2 it lol. nah, its not procrastination, more like full time school + full time work pwn the 'ish outta me right now. Hmm, u got linux 2 run on the ps3? pm me man, sounds interesting (although a Xbox running linux is pretty funny).

UPDATE:
Anyway, to be related to the topic (somewhat), I also threw some rebased hid's in since they were sititng in my basement (b4 anyone bitches about I shoulda retrofitted like I did my civic, read the above reason why I didn't have time 2 make a writeup lol ). They're bright, I'm not gonna lie, but they're almost perfect for highway driving . The setup, rebased phillips 4300k bulbs w/ denso oem (lexus) ballasts. Everything's still fine, no water leakage or problems w/ humidity (I power-washed the engine bay when I did my wire tuck b4 end of summer, maybe I'll do a culmative write-up when it warms up again lmao).

anyways, got ?'s just hit me up.

I wish these were out a few years ago when I was in my ricer stage and decided to replace my cracked oem lights for those crappy black housing projectors... I ended up replacing those shitty things with OEM ones in less than a year. But now I regret not getting the JDM ones.

To prevent water leakage, condensation, and the occasional spider, try putting on extra layer of clear silicone along the edges where the lens meet the housing. Also, make sure the rubber bulb cap fits flush on the back end as well.

OP: do the ebaydms use the same type of bulb as the stock headlights or is it different like the real jdms?

The prices on those things have also gone down aparently. I think I'll actaully buy a set and store them away for a future retrofit. This is looking good so far.

I have them too; the amber corner ones. Bought off eBay from Option Racing for $130 plus shipping, total was about $174 ish. They look great, and I'm very pleased. I was anticipating a big, open look since there are no lines, but there isn't. They haven't fogged up as of yet. They get nothing but a from me.

They're plastic same as the JDM Stanleys. Quality is unnoticeably less if at all.
