Default DIY GSXR ITB's - LS/VTEC Pics.

We just finished fabbing up set of 2003 GSXR ITB's for our '95 Integra DB8. Thought I would post some photos:

Setup is:

LS/VTEC
GSR Head
ITR Pistons
Toda C's
Toda Valvetrain & Cam Gears
Hytech Header
2.5" Exhaust / No Cat
Lucas 440's
Hondata S100
Stock LS Tranny

We also are using a custom made aluminum vacuum box that connects to the Brake Booster, runs the IACV (custom bracket), IAT, Map, and FPR. We have 2 vacuum lines running from each TB, that tee into a larger diameter vaccum line, that connect to the vacuum box. The car idles right at 1200 rpm, real rich though ... on one of our race car maps. We are using the Honda Map sensor & Honda TPS. We were able to get the TPS to read real close, so it looks like it's going to work fine Tuning the car soon

The brass plugs were temporary. We welded caps over the stock injector holes.

Note the return spring on the throttle cable bracket. We added 2 more on the other TB's to make sure they were returning to full close.

Using the Stock Fuel Rail, GSXR Injector holes, had to extend the TPS wires.

Looks great except the nuts for your spark-plug cover are incorrect (both acorn and lower nuts). I'm a little OCD and it's causing the cover to bow.

I'm just curious did you dyno the car with the DIY ITBS yet? I would like to know because I am considering building one myself. Also, I know you said your car idle at 1200 rpm. That is kind of rich, did you bring it down a little or no?

hell how did you run your IACV?
i just bought the same exact set of ITB's that "whatshisname" did in hondatuning for a d series engine. i dont remember anything about an IACV anywhere.

ok... now that im thinking about it.....
on top of his DIY vaccum log, theres a little box stapped on there with zip ties. theres 4 little rubber lines. 1 running to each throttle body. could this be the IACV?

Okay ... we went to the dyno last week, but were unable to get any tuning done beacause of time contraints and because we were not drawing enough vacuum to get a good map reading.

We revised the vacuum setup. Pics later We tapped (4) 3/8" ports further down in the runners, pretty close to the stock injector holes. We ran larger vaccum hose to (4) 3/8" ports on the vacuum box. The IAT is tapped directly into the vaccum box. The map, fpr, and booster also come off the box. We hooked up the IACV, but we are not running it. We now see around ~14-12 in/hg at idle (depending on where we set the rpm), which should be enough to get us tuned. We had to change to new plugs, as they were completly fouled from running the car so rich (map was seeing only 2 in/hg at idle before and was dumping tons of fuel) We tapped in a boost gauge to get the reading.

I'll post the dyno when we go back, and some more pics.

to anyone else considering DIY ITB's, the closer you put your vaccuum taps to the trumpets, the more atmosphere you are reading. the closer to the head flange, the more vaccuum. a pressure gradient exists in the runners.

the stock injector slots are a good place to tap for vaccuum.
