Default Built motor and SMog

hey guys im not sure where to post this so hopefully it isnt put of place here.

How many of you pass smog test with a built motor? Is it possible? i have a b16 that im gonna rebuild but im not sure what will pass smog in 2 years. i could build it for boost and lower the compression to 9:1 but when i take the turbo stuff off my car for the sniffer test will it pass? OR i could get higher compression pistons, p & p, cams, all that good stuff to get me around 200whp. but when i go to the State Ref to get the motor Bar'd will i fail the sniffer portion on the stock p2t ecu? im leaning toward the bottom end build with lower compression but im afraid the ref will fail me cause i cant pass the sniffer

anyone have a similar experience?

you could pass it either way (w/ or w/o turbo) if you tune it for each

I passed the sniffer test with my car up here in Canada

i have 13.0cr 2.0L motor with RM M22x cams, however to get it to pass the whole car had to get retuned for the sniffer portion

Sounds crazy but true, I didn't believe so until I saw my friend's hatch with a ls swap with a custom turbo kit that had BAR stickers for the swap and the turbo kit. The turbo kit is a custom log manifold with external wastegate, the turbo is a funky looking t3/t4 hybrid turbo. I mean funky because I have not seen a .48ar hot side with a .80ar cold side turbo before.

if your car is registered in a county that doesn't require smog, like here in north bay area you register your car in occidental or lake county.

First, B16B-EJ8. You can eat a dick. Idiot.

I posted that before reading other posts about what you do. I still don't quite get how you make parts that don't have CARB EO#s smog legal, but it's cool that you can. Not worth it to me to be John Force on the street, but cool none-the-less.

What if an OBD2 car has been converted to OBD1? How does it get past the OBD2 scannning part of the ASM testing?

Yes, it's my loss. I'm sure there's nobody else on this entire forum capable of answering questions is a less bullshit manner. When your first word in a reply to someone is "idiot", you're an internet tool. This site is actually full of internet tools who wouldn't mouth off half as much in real life as they do here. I follow the golden rule, treat me like **** and I'll be more than happy to return the favor...with interest. Treat me with respect and I'll show you unlimited respect in return. It's a two way street.
