NEXEN tires.......anygood?
No, they're a cheap off-brand, not worth getting. Especially when you can get a great tire like the Kumho SPT in 205/45-16 for only $57 per tire after rebate.

Most of the BFG tires are overpriced or their performance is crap compared with other brands. For example, the g-force Sport is priced the same as the Yokohama ES100 or Kumho SPT, but the performance of the BFG is crap by comparison. The g-force KDW2 is a decent tire but it costs about twice as much as the similar ES100 or SPT.

I wouldn't call them "overlooked", but IMNSHO the Kumho Ecsta SPT is the best bang for the buck tire on the market. Very good dry traction, awesome in rain, and they last a long time (30-45K miles). I would call them the best bang for the buck at their regular prices, and the $40 rebate just makes them even more so.
Other decent tires in bang for the buck include the Dunlop Direzza DZ101, Yokohama AVS ES100, and the Avon Tech M500 (which I would call "overlooked"), but all are usually more expensive than the SPT and similar in performance, so I wouldn't call any of those better than the SPT.

That's a tough one, because the A032R is being discontinued. eBay, maybe. I doubt that you'll find a new one at a dealer. If you already have three, you may be looking at a choice between mixing different track tires on the same car, or else tossing out perfectly good tires - not a great choice.
(Personally, I hate the idea of tossing out good tires. As a result, I've mixed the A032R with the Toyo RA-1 on the same car, with acceptable results, since they're close enough in performance. But I'm just using them for HPDE events and am not on the "ragged edge".)

i got the nexens for my hatch project car. i love them. i got them from a local shop for 286 bucks mounted and balanced. i didn't want to order tires and i didn't have to pay any shipping so it was exactly what i was looking for. the hatch has the stock motor so i wasn't looking for a race engineered tire or anything. if you are doing normal driving i highly recommend them.
Dude, the Nexxen's are actually a very good tire for the money. I've used them on a lot of customer cars, and everyone is VERY satisfied with them.

I sell tires for a living and I have driven on tons of dirfferent tires. I personally think the best street tire for max grip for the price is hands down the Falken Azenis RT-615. The new tread design is better then the older design and the grip has improved. They also have show improved treadware.
You pretty much have to spend 50% or more money to gain a slightly better tire. I sell more then 15 major brands and stock over 200,000 tires.
Falkens grip..no question

I've driven on tons of different tires, too. I agree that the best street tire for max grip is the Falken Azenis RT-615. However, I do not recommend them for value, because of their rapid treadwear (typically 10-12K miles, which is only about one half to one fourth the number of miles that most other summer tires give).
I also disagree with your statement about improved treadwear; their treadlife is similar to the RT-215, their predecessor (and so is their treadwear rating, although the treadwear rating is not always accurate). The big improvements over the older design are (1) the RT-615 is better on wet pavement (still not as good as most other summer tires, but better than the RT-215) and (2) they don't get "greasy" and go away as quickly when they get hot.
Bottom line: If you're looking for great dry traction, get the Falken Azenis RT-615. But if you're looking for the best value for your money, get something less expensive that will last a lot longer and still give decent performance (although not as good as the Azenis).

The Tire Rack has good prices. So does Discount Tire's mail order division (whose prices are higher but they offer free shipping, so you need to compare the bottom line - sometimes they are cheaper, sometimes not). I've bought from both places, no problems.

i agreed. think abt this, do michelin and bfg tires perform 2 times better for the money that u pay 2 times extra the nexen ? the nexen tires are not, of course comparable to the other auto-x tires, which cost more too, but for the money, i dun think anyone can beat it. plus, do the auto-x tires comparable to the nexen in terms of noise level, treadwear life and $$$ ? absolutely not. so it really depends what u want, for a daily normal driving and budget, i recommend nexen.

same here, i hv sold a lot to my customers, no complaint so far, some are very happy. want some good tires and dun wanna waste money, spare a set for race or auto-x, use them when needed(so no complaint for wearing out so quick), but use the nexen for normal driving. spend ur money wisely.

No, but Kumho tires (and some others) give performance that's just as good as Michelin and BFG, for prices that are even better than the Nexen tires (assuming that the Nexen prices are half those of Michelin or BFG). Which makes it a no-brainer - get Kumhos, instead of Nexens.
BTW - If you really work in a tire store, do you really write that way at work? Using those juvenile chatroom abbreviations like "abt" and "u" and "dun"? They make you sound like you're about eight years old. And not a very bright eight-year-old, either.
Most of the people I know who work retail know how to speak and type in proper English...

kumho tires aren't cheaper than nexen, but for the price, kumhos are not bad too. i did not object that kumho tires are bad and also did not say "DUN" buy kumho. i was trying to say "NEXEN tires are pretty good for the price". hope this helps.
i am a tire technician, not a typist or a designer. i go by experience but not the way i type. no matter where i work, people trust my experience. plus, those "abt, dun and u" are for u to read, MR. nsxta...s...ty. and for the "get kumhos, instead of nexens" is for yourself to enjoy, argue and debate. my term is "get something, instead of nothing" how about that.
BTW, i love kumho tires too. they are reasonable price at qualified performance.

would have to agree with you on this matter.. its all about what the consumer's needs and what he can afford at the time......i would agree that the kumho's are a pretty good bargain also for there price and quality
