Default Yet Another In-Car from the Spoon Race Car at Mid Ohio

Tony posted pics from the Aug 12-13 Honda Challenge event at Mid Ohio here:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1722864

I finally got a chance to go through my tape. Here's the video of a lap from the Sunday race. It was a 1'45" lap with the vtec being cut off at various places (T1, keyhole, etc.). If the motor was healthy, I believe I could have gotten into 44's. The blue hatch in front of me was Kelley in H1:

Looks very nice Wai. The newly shaved curbs look excellent too. I'm heading there next month again and I can't wait.

I'm sure you've mentioned it before, but what video camera are you using? The quality and sound are very good.

<-- wishes he brought his camera mount to get in-car

You need to use more track in a couple places! Turn 1 for sure.

I think Wai's fastest lap was on the back of the tow rig.

More hype-R pics.. Tina took most, I took one, I think Jessica took a couple?

Erik, it's just a relatively cheap Canon ZR80. I've been happy with it. It takes good enough video for computer use.

Yes definitely.... Still need more seat time on that track for sure.

But I think one reason, T1 for example, I didn't track out as much as it should've been was because of the vtec cutoff. All the sudden I got probably 20 less whp in the middle of the turn, and the momentum just didn't throw me out to the outside like how it's supposed to be.

Wai, what's the setup for your gauge cluster? I don't think I've ever poked my head in your car.

You were always too busy poking with Chris N!

In the pic Chris N posted, from left is Fuel Pressure, Water Temp, Tach, Oil Pressure.

The piece of tape on the tach is the redline.
Right below it, it says "Pito Loto (Pit Road) 60km/h 3rd gear 3000 rpm", which is no longer true because of the ATS FD that I put in.

LOL! Clitz scares me

The tach was throwing me, I could see the left and far right gauges moving, but couldn't see the tach needle, just your "red line."

Nice set up

So it is true then....As I remember, Spoon Kaa has no oil temp gauge. Something you and Spikey said about once the oil press. fluctuates or isn't "normal," the fun's over and is supposedly easier to detect than watching oil temp.

"See no evil"... sometimes you just don't want to know oil temp. I've had "pretty hot oil" and never run into an oiling issue.

Oil pressure fluctuation is hard to catch, since it's usually temporary and happens most under hard braking and hard cornering. It took me a while to get comfortable glancing at the oil pressure gauge in a corner. Once I did, the fluctuations were scary so I stopped looking.

In a straight line, oil pressure is generally always OK. Unless something is really wrong, and then you'll figure it out at the end of the straight anyway

It's an almost 900 miles tow for me.
Driving out there is fine, but towing..... I might end up flying out there.
