lowering your bikes??
okay guys..my bro has this bike for awhile..and it quite high for him..he has to tip toe just to ride it...the bike is a 2001 triumph 600TT...the bike has a rear coil shock..im sure most bikes comes with it..can i just adjust this so it lowers the bike or do he have to get a lowering kit for the bike..thanks.!!!
Have him try the one-cheek-sneak first, before messing with the suspension.
Also, he might be able to shave down part of the seat.
But if you must lower it, drop the triple in the front (aka: raise the fork tubes up through the triples) to lower the front of the bike.

One-cheek sneak means he uses only one foot at a stop. A lot of my friends are vertically challenged, and that's what they use. Altering a bike's suspension is detrimental to the handling if you do not know what you are doing.
If you look at the front forks, you will see they slide through a part of the bike. It is commonly referred to as the triple or triple tree. You can loosen the pinch bolts that hold the forks and pull the forks up, through the triples, effectively lowering the front of the bike. It will make the bike turn in faster as a side effect. This could make the bike very twitchy as a result.
Shaving down the seat means taking off the surface, shaving down part of the inside, and then putting the upholstery back on.
If it were me, I would try
1) balancing on one foot
2) shaving the seat
3) altering the suspension

no it won't be better... this changes the leverage ratio and it lowers the ground clearence... if your friend is tippy toeing, he has enough touch to ride safely... if he is experienced. I only ever use ONE FOOT/toe of my boot(right foot) to stop but I have been riding for 26 years on the street. the one cheek sneak is the way to go if your friend is not comfortable in his balance.

they do have a lower control arm links for the swing-arm (i believe that's what it's called). I just know it as the dog-bone. They offer adjustable or ones that will lower the bike, but keep in mind that you'll need to cut/reweld the kickstand if you lower it. Lowering the bike changes the geometry of the suspension and overall handling of the motorcycle. If you're just riding it on a daily basis without pushing it, you might not even know the difference in the handling. Look around eBay or other motorcycle forums for the parts. Lowering the front through the triple forks could also help - just don't for get about that kickstand if you lower it enough. If you lower it without adjusting the kick-stand you'll notice the bike sitting very upright when you park it and it will be more likely to fall.

Has he even adjusted the suspension to see if it helps at all or is he just using the stock settings? There can be a huge difference between the ends of the spectrum on the suspension.
everything still in stock form...he's already doing the one cheek sneak..this is just for daily driving..no HARD driving..maybe alittle here and there..i think he'll be good with the one cheek sneak thing....lowering the bike seems kinda hard..lol..thanks for everything guys!!!!
