I want to know if anyyone has passed SMOG w/ a JDM engine In California, Cause i want a JDM engine and i want some experiences of people w/ JDM engines.

what are the levels for HCs and CO/Co2 in your smog test, my jdm car went thru our test over here and passed easily but i'll need to know hwta your levels/limits are to compare them. my engine is stock except for cat back exhaust and hi flo cat plus blitz SuS filter

 

when i had the 1st gen b16 in the del sol i passed at the smog ref.. but only after they had me switch the intake manifold out to the 92-up style.

yep. at the ref! i had a long conversation with him about the engine swap thing.. his reply was that as long as the smog equipment and sensors are of the same generation as the chasis or newer, you're ok. FYI.. ls/vtec is not legal.

 

i passed with with jdm b16a. Have a mugen hybrid chipped pr3. intake header and exhaust. my smog tech wasn't concerned with the fact that i had a dohc in a crx because he is into fast cars, but many techs will turn you away as soon as you pop the hood. just go talk to a couple techs and ask them their policy.
