Default Congrats to Marco from Magnus Motorsports to Holdn' it down at the DSM shootout! 8.70@ 162mph

Quoted from Magnus website...

"August 13, 2006
Marco Passante 2006 DSM Shootout Quick 16 Winner!

After a dismal first qualifying pass of 10.30, Marco stayed in it much longer than most mortals should. Wall to center lane action was abound on the first pass. Turned out the cars tune up was bad due to the weather stations data of a corrected altitude factor of 3000ft elevation. The 2 cylinder pass was enough to break a front right axle, rip the rear bumper off, and mist a fine mixture of methanol and oil onto the right side tires, if there were cones on the track he would have ran through them.

Frantically the team replaced the front axle and found a roll of duct tape from a fellow Mitsubishi nut, and patched the rear bumper back together. The third qualifier was a 10.0 again on 2 cylinders. Changes were made to the fuel map and they were off to the eliminations to try it out.

First pass netted a blistering 1.33 60 ft 8.82 @ 160 with the car still breaking up at the top end, this was the fastest pass of the day to date in competition. The crowd was on its feet and cheering for the first clean pass of the day.

The quarter finals lined up Marco with Dan Buschur whose black EVO 8 had just hours earlier become the worlds quickest EVO 8 with a top qualifying time of 8.95. The Woodbridge crew put Marco cleanly in the groove, and although the EVO cut a better light, from the 1.37 60ft to the 330 the blue 2g DSM began to pull away, and he backed up the 8.82 with a 8.70 @ 162mph. Celebration and chants of "Woodbridge" rang through the stands.

Onto the Finals, The Magnus Talon was paired up with the AMS EVO, track prep was excellent as both cars bogged out of the hole, but the Magnus talon cleanly accelerated its way to a 9.321 @ 160.71 MPH vs. a 9.544 @ 158 for the EVO. The Magnus crew goes home with the 1st place trophy and a personal best, while still driving the car onto the trailer, always a good day when that happens.

Brent Rau, in the Magnus powered Pro Outlaw Eclipse on an exhibition run put the crowd to its feet with a 7.00 pass @ 199 mph, holding the wheels in the air till well past the 330.

Excellent side by side racing action all day and the best DSM shootout ever, with the highest attendance ever with 33 cars attempting to qualify for quick 16,. Special thanks to Dave B and the whole Norwalk crew. Records fell all day as all of the competitors brought their A game to the event."

Stew no need to be a hater. Give respect where it is due.

Quick 16 at DSM shootout if different that NHRA or NDRA, so don't compare.

And it should be a good night Saturday at the CSCS event where eliminations from the past event will pair Marco againts Paul B.

Good to see Marco getting more then 3 passes outta that car these dyas, and not leaving craters in race tracks.

Cut the mullet.
Marco good work after recovering from the collar bone injury and the fireworks induced sucker punch incident.

you need to look at the vid againabout that time, buschurs car is also a pro car , that is a new car they just came out with.

Rau and shep run alot different setups they don't even run in the same classes as marco does.

should be a good race at cscs this weekend

Marco is the man, period!! The man deserves every bit of his success and let me tell you, he's on fire this year! Fastest 4G63 in Canada (again hehe) a win at Nopi NY, a win at the SO and a possible win at the CSCS.

Can't wait to see him at Napierville too. That should be fun.

On another note, one of our fellow member from the DSM Quebec group managed to win the Diamond Star Eliminator class (a street DSM heads up race) with consistent passes in the high 10's and a best of 10.54@142MPH in his full street 2G rice rocket.

So that's 2 for the canadians at the SO!

Really? And here I thought that Marco's claim to fame were his 4G64 engines.

That was a well deserved win! And it was about time he had things go his way at the shootout. In the past, he was plagued with the problems.

As for Shep and Rau, technically, they could have competed in quick 16 class, but they showed some real class by not beating up on the "little guys" and sticking to just the exhibition runs (7.95 and 7.0).

Yeah, well. No full tube race cars were allowed in Q16 anyway. But of course, Shep could have made it if he wanted to. He just chose not to. Besides, it's not like he had anything to prove.

Buchur's Evo wasn't exactly a "little guy" either. All in all, it was a pretty good Q16 to watch and I enjoyed it.

Stew it must burn your *** to have to write about me twice in your POS magazine. Thats two wins in a row, and the first time I won, you guys didn't have one pic on your website stating that I won the pro 4 cyl in NY.

Now that I cleaned up at the big show, you had no choice but to write about me, but thank god we had a real journalist there and his name was Peter.

the category is quick 16 that means anything goes, my car isnt tube chassis, nor is back halved, I don't think you know what unibody means. It is the baddest AWD unibody car on independant suspension, and for that I won.

Thanks to the whole woodbridge crew for helping out on the ride, and thanks to all you guys who show love. No thanks to Modified magazine and the Haters, remember who started that dog and pony show over there on Peter st. girlfriend
