so after a whole week of messing with my 404s I finally get my ls to drive right, my car was pulling, i was so happy it felt really good those cam are really good up top, but after having some fun, i decide to go get something to eat and im just chilling wit my girl and I'm making a turn get into the restaurant parking lot, i slow down cuz I see teh illest bump, so im driving madd slow creeping, and out of nowhere my airbags pop out, burn the **** out my arms and hit my girl in the face, then after my girl crying I went to check the damn header was ripped open (those headers where big the were hanging madd low), one of the tranny mount bolts broke off, and my shifter if leaning to the left, the car still drives, is it literally open header, the car sound like a harley if not louder, i"m pissed cuz I have no idea how the airbags popped out, man everytime something good happens something else seems to F it up

sorry to hear, maybe when you install the new air bags you might want to think about not plugging it in. I disconnected my air bags after I popped a curve and the driver bag blew open.

seem to contradict one another. How fast were you going and what did you hit?

Are you just telling us what happened or asking why the air bags came out.

Man that sucks.

 

You know those sticker that is on the visor that say that every 10 years you should get your air bags check.. I think the manufacture put it there for a reason because I sure learn my lesson.

 

I was driving slow, literally between 10-15 mph, I think the header somehow got ripped open by the bump, Ill take pictures when I get a chance to.

I'm telling you guys what happened, and do you guys know if that was the cause or was there something else that could have caused them to deploy

 

If I had to come up with an explanation, I would say that the header dug into the "bump" enough to make your car think you got into an accident. If the bump was indeed big enough to do this, then you should have slowed down well into single digits. You should kick the **** out of your airbag for getting free head.

this is not a very good pic, this is the what broke off the tranny casing, I dont have any more pics cuz the camera ran out of batteries

 

how do you remove or unplug your air bags? i was always afraid they would go off if i tried to take them out..

Disconnect your battery first. It's pretty straightforward from there, unless you are changing the pass. airbag, in which case you'll need to remove the dash.

 

how in the hell did bottoming out your car on a speed bump make you trans. come loose and break a bolt hole? looks like the trans bolts werent even tight you said your shifter is crooked? i cant imagine a speedbump did that much damage!!

my headers were hanging low so it got caught on the bump, and pulled my motor and tranny and i guess at the same time it made my air bag computer think that it was in accident

air bags works off of de-acceleration. And it the jolt was hard enough to make the computer to set if off it would deploy. here is a site that has info.

that's madd gay. i have no idea how that could happen. take a picture of the bump for us. did you not angle the car when going over it? **** i went up onto a curve before and nothing happened....well, i dented my dumptube. hahaha

 

well, can I still use the same tranny cuz Its only one bolt, any ideas on how to fix it, or should i just replace the casing or the whole tranny

So you were going 15-20mpg and when you hit the "bump" the car just stopped? expletive that hit on the header is brutal.. I'm NOT suprised the airbags went off.
