Default B18 in a 91 Civic Si

If I've been reading things right, I can put any B18 but the B18C in my 91 Si as long as I get a cable trans from a pre '93 teg right?

Hybrid Honda says the B18C is "not recommended" in a 4G http://www.hybrid.honda-perf.org/tech/badidea.html

How about a B20Z? Maybe a B20Z + cable trans is the way to go! I love torque!

As far as I know, you'll run into the same sort of problems with a B18A/B (right guys? anyone know exactly?), and a B20Z sure isn't going to fit any better than a B18.
I know a dude who has a B18C in his 88 Civic, and the biggest problem was the oilpan hitting bumps, cause it's lowered. He later bought a moroso and problem solved. He runs in the 13.7's though, with 1/h/e, and pretty much nothing else!

My bottom end is a B18A. I have never had a problem with the oil pan hitting when going over bumps. The header yes. The B18 basically drops right into a 91 Civic. The B20 will also go into the 91 civic, but it hits the stock hood.

Damn people get your info right. the b18A/B and b20 are exteranlly IDENTICAL. B20 is just a B18A/B with an 84mm bore. If fits exalty the same in the bay. No B-series engine will "drop in" they all need a mount kit or the factory mounts need to be relocated. Also the B18C1/5 is taller and will bang the hood or scrape the pan depending on if you shim it down or not with your mount kit.

The B16/B18A/B or B20 all fit just fine w/o problems. The B18C's have a taller blcok that cuase some problems, but is easily curd by shimming up the hood, or buying a ZC style hood
