Default Joined the 400hp SOHC club today!! **VID**

Today we had a local dyno day from a local website... http://www.idahostreetracing.com i decided to roll down and see what the beast could put down, as i have never had it on the dyno with high boost. i only got 3 runs and no tuning was involved because of the time crunch...pretty much strap it down and see what it runs...i was thinking prolly 350+ but then this came up

just for reference my setup is this
stock z6 head
stock z6 intake manifold
y8 block with VITARA's and eagle rods, other wise stock
drag manifold
t3/t4 57 trim .60/.63 about 25psi
3" open downpipe
street tuned on cromePro by me

im extremely stoked on these numbers, i never expected it to be over 400whp...it suprised the hell out of me because im still on teh stock head and stock intake manifold...oh and the drag manifold, cant believe i got 400 hp out of that too!!! and for the haters these vitaras ROCK!

haha its been running for 9 months allready...its a full weight 93 honda civic 4DR...its my weekend car, and that only happened about 2 months ago...so driving around on 23+ psi DAILY for the last 6-7 months, and to go in and drop 405hp after that is impressive to me...i think its lasted long enough, and it shows no signs of giving up. this thing is a beast. i f-n love it and thats all that matters lol!

Right on man! I knew the vitara's were good for 400+hp.

What octane fuel was this on? And what octane do you run on the street at 23 psi?

Total timing at 23 psi? I'd like to compare timing at that psi to my setup w/the Y8 head.

Good job!

yeah that much power and only trapped a 118? I'm making 355whp / 263ft lbs tq which is significantly less than yours and I trapped a 118 and ran a 12.3

don't Y8s like a bit more timing than other d series heads? im also interested in the total timing.

vitaras end up with a compression ratio around ~8-8.5:1 dont they?

great job and continue your happy-boosting.

the timing isue with y8's is in the head design. he is using a z6 top end so he wont run into timing issues.

What compression are you running, and what octane do you run at 23psi

great numbers..

i hate seeing these semi-budget setups make the same power as SOHC guys with more expensive setups. They seem to be just as strong.

platinum.

ok let me see if i can answer some questions lol

first off this car is not my daily driver anymore so i run 110 octane in it all the time (we can get it at the pump here in boise idaho lol) i drive it on the street at 23psi with 110 octane...i havent gone over 18-20psi on normal 93 octane.

i did go with the z6 head to avoid all teh timing problems...that being said i am at 6 degrees total timing at 7500 rpms and @ 22.6psi on the map sensor (2.5bar is maxed out)

on the dyno i did try the same map with 3 degrees more timing and i lost 40 whp.

this is all on the stock bore vitaras, i think it my be a record but i will have to have FJT chime in on that...i also think this might be the most hp ever made on a completely stock head, intake mani, cam also.

im using the y8 headgasket with one layer removed so im about 9.1:1 compression.

my a/f's are at 11.8's all teh way across the board...exept that dip at 6500rpm it did jump to like mid 12's for a second, i dont know what happeend there cause this was the only dyno pull that it did it on. ignition stutter maybe? this is on bone stock honda ignition and bcprs7e plugs gapped at .028

thanks guys

nice turbo choice

great numbers.

you should be able to get alittle more out of it when you get a cance to tune the timing too! (for reference my timing was @ 13* at 28 psi)

welcome to the 400 whp sohc club, there arent very many of us

oh and about my trap speed and times...i did 118 on about 22psi but the night befiore the dyno i found a couple boost leaks in my charge pipes (welds) and changed my plugs out....i could tell quite a bit of difference than what i have been runing at the trap....

im pretty confident this car will go 123+ on slicks, i also bought bigger slicks to cause i was blowing off the 22x8x15's i had before..i have 23x8.5x15's now.

remember this is in a full weight 4dr...im around 2700+lbs for race weight...i know my times will get better this car is pulling harder than it ever has.
