Default HASPORT cable to hydro conversion, VS Innovative Cable to Hydro conversion

I have a HASPORT Cable to hydro kit for my car. The problem I have is that, my
clutch adjustment is never correct. I can adjust it so that, I can shift gears smoothly or get full lock up with the clutch, and not be able to get the car in gear smoothly. I have it set up to shift well. But now it is burning up my clutch. The tranny is a brand new 2001 ITR tranny, and the clutch is a brand new ACT.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I was looking at the INNOVATIVE setup and it looks like the cable part seems to have a better design. Has anyone tried both? Or had experience with the
INNOVATIVE mount kit.

since Hasport is right there in Phoenix, why don't you take it to them and see if they can tell you what the problem is?

I dont think that there is anything wrong with it. More of a design issue. It works
as like it is designed. And Im wondering if anyone has had the same problem.
I think we met at a race here in PHX. I had the white hatch back and you guys
were parked next to us, with the green hatch.

on another note. i have seen an old man with an ef rex. he made a bracket that used the clutch cable to push or pull the slave cylinder for a hydro clutch. awesome idea but maybe tough to fab. anyway it was mounted where the battery is located and it looked very simple an effective. the bracket was about two inches by ten or twelve inches. clutch cable mounted at one end and the slave cylinder mounted at the other. may be tough but something to think about.

also you can try to put a regular old hose clamp around the soft rubber on the bottom of the clutch cable and tighten. this will stiffen up the rubber and there will be less deflection and you can be more precise in the adjustment

What clutch cable are you guys using?

I have the DA clutch cable with a hose clamp around the soft rubber and the ACT clutch/PP on an ITR tranny and I'd say that the clutch cable has minimal movement. I frequently move it to different settings to see which I like and then sometimes I just change it depending on what feels best at the time. I did the same thing on my cable d series too so it wasn't anything new to me.

could it possibly be the excessive pedal pressure of the ACT pressure plate stretching the cable, not the conversion.

well i have an innovative hydro conversion mount kit for the crx for sale....
i had it on my car for maybe a month until my tranny locked up on me. I could only afford to get a cable tranny so i switched back..
the innovative design is quite descent actually plenty of adjustment in the actuator assembly..i also loved the pedal feel took a minute to get used too but after 15 min. of driving it was awesome..

It may not be the cable stretching, but the actual pedal bracket twisting.

Also, a possiblity. Bracing the pedal is a very good idea.

i had to weld 3/8" steel to my clutch pedal. it was twisting and flexing, but this was with an ACT Extreme PP and Street Disc. (straight cable setup)

my clutch pedal almost broke off. Ive since reinforced it.

Im on my second clutch cable in 4 months and its on its way out. I have to keep adjusting it tighter and tighter because its stretching. Ill try putting a hose clamp on it and see what affect it has.

Im sure with a softer PP the problem wouldnt be so pronounced, but in my other CRX with an ACT XT PP (not a HD like on this car) with a normal cable tranny there is no problem.

I will Replace the cable again with a DA one (Ive been using CRX Si ones) and try the hose clamp and see what happens.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm running the exedy twin disc with that hasport conversion. Reinforced pedal bracket of course.... cable doesn't seem like it's stretching yet. Anyone know of any place that would make a custom "heavy duty" clutch cable?
