DIY: Fix Your Broken Lip...
Alright guys, I tried searching and couldn't really find anything on how to fix a cracked lip. I figured I would make a mini DIY for anyone who is interested. I would first like to say that I am not good at these so don't expect a masterpiece here, this is simply to help some people out and give a bit more detail than most of the previous threads I have read on this. I used this method to repair my ABS plastic front lip that was SNAPPED COMPLETELY IN HALF. When I started this "project" my lip was two completely seperate pieces.
Materials needed:
PVC Pipe Adhesive (comes in a can similar to rubber cement)
60 Grit Sandpaper
100 Grit Sandpaper
1000 Grit wet/dry Sandpaper
Primer
Paint of choice
Steps used to repair broken lip:
First, clean the lip at the cracked or damaged area.
Second, apply the PVC Pipe Adhesive to the cracked area of the lip and push together tightly and hold for approx. 60 seconds.
After it is dried (I would suggest letting it sit 10 minutes or so just to make sure) paint thin layers of the PVC Pipe Adhesive to the cracked area of the lip. I loaded it on the inside of the lip because when bolted up this won't even be seen, but on the outside I did light layers until the crack was covered up.
Then, sand using 60, 100, 1000 grit sandpaper.
Finally, primer and paint the lip your color of choice.
Now for pictures of the finished product:
Remember, my lip was two seperate pieces when I started. Snapped completely in half. The pictures don't really do it justice but they are something to give you an idea of what it looks like now. I assure you in person you can not even tell that the lip has had any type of damage done to it. If you have any further questions please feel free to ask!
P.S. This isn't a thread asking for opinions of the front lip, so please no flames
Enjoy
