Default painting wheels

im thinking of painting stock wheels flat black. do i need to sand and prep the wheel at all? what grit sand paper do you suggest?

i am doing this becuase i will have to put my new VR's on my K-1's... so i need to go back to stock wheels, i dont like them very much so i thought i might change em up a bit and throw a couple of coats of spray paint on. opinions?

One of our mods, 94Accord, has black painted Prelude wheels.
I'm pretty sure you have to sand, or the paint just won't stick.
Hopefully he'll chime in...

Sand with the finest grit you can find. You also need primer.

I used 600grit sandpaper, it scarred the lude rims right up, didn't require any elbow grease. Then bought a can of flat black spray paint for outdoor use and went to down, just kept adding coats till it looked nice and even. I may have a pic or 2, let me look around.

94accord nice! i am having second thoughts though... because the 96 ex rims are fugly! and heavy as hell too, i think im going to just buy more kosei's. not sure though, might even want to paint the k-1's.

Yeah, I just use them for Autoxs and HPDEs. I have AO32Rs mounted on them. You really need a spacer to run them in the back, it is literally 1->2mm off of the rear upper control arm. The weights that were mounted inside the tire were knocked off by it, but i haven't gotten longer rear studs yet, so i don't want to chance spacers yet.

exaccord, why not just get the K1 in Anthraciwhateveritiscalled that way they are already black.

what size are your A032R's? i ask becuase i am getting 225/50/15 victoracers and i am going to be doing some testing to see if i need to run spacers... what do you think?

i dont think they have the anthracite color for our bolt-pattern in 15's, at least they didnt when i bought my silver ones.

I have 205/50/15 tires. Its not only the tire that is close, it is the actual rim itself that is about to touch. I know urbanlegend ran K1s w/ 225/50(45?)/15 Victoracers not sure if he used spacers or not though.
