EF H23 Swap
I have a H23 and want to put it into an EF. I have been researching this for a while and have yet to find any companies that offer mount kits for the swap other than those for EG's and newer. After reading through the EF FAQ, searching here, searching google, and looking elsewhere, I have gathered that this is not a very easy swap and that I'd be better off doing it into an EG, or just swapping a B into the EF.
I'm going to do the swap anyway just for the PITA that I know it will be and that it will be fairly original due to the difficulty of properly doing the swap. I would however like to avoid avoid having to custom fabricate mounts so if anyone can tell me where I can find some I would really appreciate it. Also if anyone else has done this swap or tried doing this swap into their EF, I would like to hear of any problems you encountered with the swap.
Thanks for the info.

This is what a mount kit should look like. Not sure what HT sponsors can get you good deals on these.. anyone?
Do some seraching in the hybrid section and download the instalation instructions from hasport so you know what you're getting in to.

H23? DOHC VTEC or just DOHC?
H23 can be thrown in with the HASport H kit, with the hydro to cable conversion for the tranny like Paul posted. It's your best bet. A hard swap, but a sweet one.

The motor is just a H23A1 from a 92 Prelude a guy gave to me. I was going to boost it and throw it back into the Lude but then I decided to stay N/A so I opted to use an EF chassis due to the light weight and cheap price for the shell.
Thanks for all the info though. I'm glad to find out Hasport does have a kit for it, since I really didn't feel like custom fabbing my own mounts. Speaking of which, can anyone tell me how the clearance from the back of the cylinder head to the firewall is. I plan on making some custom ITB's and don't want to run into clearance issues.
Thanks for the info everyone.

If your running ITBS, good luck doing that in an EF chassis, with an H. Its a tight enough squeeze with an EG with a H. Just do a k24 TSX w/ no hood in a EF, with ITBs sticking out the front. FTW! Sorry man, I can'r see ITBs on an H fitting in there for anything. There are going to be clearence issues. I assure you.

Thanks for the info. Is the main issue with the ITB's the runner length, or is it an issue with the motor just taking up alot of space? I may just mount the motor and custom fab the runner lengths to fit.
K swap FTW. That would be sweet if it weren't for the huge PITA, and cost of the swap.

I dunno about the Hasports, but looking at 2point2's car there doesn't look like allot of room in there. It is partially due to the way the engine sits kinda slanted back. Having done a H22 in an EG, and a K20A in my crx, there isn't much different in tha amount of work. But I know you have the motor so you are going to use it. Personally I would scrap the ITB idea. Everything else should work fine.

Never swapped a K, but I can tell you an H is a pain to swap into an EF due to the size of it. But it's worth it and is a good engine, like the K and the B. Don't waste your time with ITBs, spend the money into a VTEC head
.
Bart, Paul's H is hung alot different then any other H powered EF, he has enough room to run ITBs...but he prefers the wind squeezer.

The K fits real well in a EF, they are big in opposite ways. The k is longer, and the H is wider. There is like over an inch on my driver's side from my tranny to my frame rail. The EG I did I had to notch his frame to clear, his h22 LSD tranny. Oh yeah I've been an H hater for ever, but Paul's car is phenominal, I hope you guys can talk him into coming down to Ohio, I'm soo mad I missed him at Niagara.

I think it's just the pic. That engine powered the first allmotor honda to ever hit a 10 second 1/4. I dont think there's anything small about it haha..

I was tempted to swap on the VTEC head but I figure I can make just as good of power with a properly ported and built notec head. My plan for the engine right now, is ITB's, 12.5:1 or 13:1 CR, Stage 3 camshafts, P&P head w/ 3 angle valve job, and a SMSP or RMF header.
IDK though, I really want to run ITB's so if I have to, I may just get another EG but I think it'd be far more original in an EF, esp. if it's as big of a PITA as ya'll say it is. Thanks for the replies and I'll have to post up my build as it progresses.

H to B = a high sitting H series in a CRX which, is a bad combo even with the H series tranny. i cant imagine an h22 sitting so high in a crx that the hood wont come close to closing. yikes. if you dont know what im talking about, just check out how high the H2B makes the motor sit.
i only watched the first half of that vid but it looks like saul salceda was handing out asses on silver platters, especially to the 60ft mark.
