Default My LS-T Build up

I started this project a while ago. I pulled the motor from a wrecked 1992 Integra. I then sold the B18A head and bought a B18B head. I already posted some of these pics in another thread, but I figured I'll just start my own project thread, cause I know I always like looking at other people's project threads, so maybe yall will enjoy following my project. But here are the pics. Will be updated frequently.

Here is the motor right after it was pulled from the Integra.

I left it outside for a few weeks. It was covered, but apparently not good enough, so it rusted pretty bad.

Here's the Cometic turbo head gasket I will be using.

Here's the block after I got it back from the machine shop. I had the cylinders honed and the block guard installed.

And here are the pistons and rods I will be using.

And here is the crank. I had it balanced and micropolished. I'm hoping to rev to around 8500 RPM.

Here's the HX35w that I will be using. It has the big compressor housing on there now, but I will be switching it to the smaller one before it is installed.

The head is still in the machine shop. I am having it ported and polished, and .5mm oversized valves installed. I will some pics up as soon as it is out. I'm also waiting on the ACL bearings to get here so I can put the block together.

Summary of Setup, so far
1992 B18A1 Block
1995 B18B1 Head
Balanced and Micopolished Crankshaft
8.5 CR Wiseco pistons 81mm
Eagle H-Beam Rods
Block Guard
ARP Head Studs
Crower Valve Spring and Titanium Retainers
ACL Rod and Main bearings
Holset HX35w

This is all going in a 97 Civic HX coupe. I will be keeping A/C and PS. If any of you know where I could get a good manifold that has clearance for both A/C and PS for a good price, please post it up. I know of a few people, but I would like some more choices.

Yeah, I was going to go VTEC, too, but i got this motor free. All i had to do was pull the motor and it was mine. The Integra that it came out of had been sitting at a body shop for 6 months and the owner just wanted out of there. So he told me I could have it, so I took out the motor, swapped over the rear disc and took the body to the crusher.

You do plan on running some wild aftermarket cams right? You better if you hope to make power up at 8500rpms

Well I will be running Crowers. I haven't decided on which ones though. Should I go with the Turbo cams? Cause I see a lot of FI going with the all-motor cams.

They must be better, cause a lot of people use them. But can someone explain why they are better than the cams designed for turbo?

boosted motors need cams with less duration and more lift, otherwise with lots of overlap good air/fuel will escape through the exhaust valve under the extra psi

not true

I would search for turbo/cam combos on Honda-tech and see what makes power.

Like I said the head isn't out yet, so I'm not sure how much the machine work will cost for it. It should be around $750 for the head work.

All the other machine work was $450

Pistons - $480
Rods - $300
Blockguard - $60
Head Gasket - $100
Turbo - $300
ACL Bearings - $100
ARP Head Studs - $100

I also have alot of other swap stuff like Avid Racing shift linkage, Fast-Turbo oil line kit, Type R oil pump, 2000 GSR PS pump, P7J a/c bracket, etc.

that's how my cometic head gasket was. Is your's .030" thick? I got mine from larry at endyn, he recomended it. It was "meant" for turbo aps.

looks good dude. i had an lsturbo in a 97 hx coupe. it was fun but made much less power than you will be.

i would get an aftermarket intake manifold. it will help along with the cams to keep the torque up in the rpm range.

have you thought about what kind of engine management you're gonna go with?

I will be getting some sort of aftermarket IM, most likely Skunk2, cause I want to keep all the sensors. I'm trying to make a car that will daily driven (A/C, PS, good idle, etc.) and pretty fast.

I will be using Greddy Emanage for the engine management. My tuner says it will do everything I need it to do.

The metal ring isn't attached to the rest of the gasket. You are supposed to line it up when you install it.
