Default How to: Taurus cupholder conversion for DA

Not sure if this is how everyone else installed it, but this is what i did

Difficulty level: noob

Stuff u need:
1) An aftermarket CD player

What to do:
1) Go to the Pick-N-Pull, and ask if they have 92 or so Ford Taurus. Grab the cupholders (see pic), make sure when you find them to get the two hinges that hang down from the cupholder to hold ur drink in place... the cupholders also come with a nice little tray for putting money and coins and stuff in

(if you live in the Bay Area, the Commerical St. Pick-N-Pull has alot of these right now, and while ur there make sure to get the chicken tacos from the food vendor, they are hella good)

2) After looking at that ugly Taurus for so long go back out to your sweet sweet DA. Now ure going to want to trim the back of the cupholders to fit into your console, so grab whatever u can and hack away at the rear until it fits

3) Now, remove your Metra kit, slide the cupholder onto the bottom about halfway, then slide in your deck from the top, push them both in until they sit flush, viola you're done. To make it look cleaner, you can also trim certain parts off the cupholders, or screw them in, but you don't need to worry, as everything will stay in place no matter how you drive

The cupholders will hold small drinks such as bottled water, coke cans, energy drinks, and the best drink ever However, to fit something large like a King size drink, you are going to need a little bit of modification...good luck

If you can find these they work too

Most peoples are broken, soo the fix is to dremel the hole out and you got cupholders

Found this at the JunkYard

Is everything tight, or is it just sitting there? Also when you have cups in it does it get in the way of shifting?

it sits perfectly tight, they kinda lock in place. if you install it as i did, it will also not interfere with shifting
