YIKES!!! Blew my motor big time
Well, I thought I was tuned well. I was running 8psi on my Drag III GSR. I was getting 262 at the wheels and 195lbs of torque. My A/F was great and everything ran nice. So I go to the track and on my first ever run, I blow up 300ft before the finish....btw I did a 14.4...he he he.
#2 and #3 cylinders blew. #3 blew the sleeve and a large chunk of the block cylinder wall out, not the outer block itself. This threw all the compression into my coolant and blew up my radiator at the bottom of it.
So, I guess I have some work to do.
When you get a block re-sleeved, can they rebuild or replace the block cylinder? I think my head is fried too.........it is melted all around the valves in #2 and #3......I doubt if it can be salvaged. I have pics if anyone wants to see. If you guys know anything and can give me some info I would apreciate it.

The good thing about this, if you can call anything good, is the turbo survived. The blades on the exhaust side are fine and it spins well.....no wobble or excessive play.

Sent you pics JCushing...thanks!
I am using Airtex inline pump, RC 310cc injectors, stock fuel rail, Vortech FMU w/ 8:1, B&M Commando FPR and Apexi VAFC.

holy gebus! definitly find out what went wrong, there is more to it then a safe airfuel and only 8psi.. what was the a/f ratio exactly? If everything was working right 8psi shouldnt do that to a motor..
I really want to know what happened. I mean, what are some of the causes? Overboost, bad injectors, bad FMU, fuel pump died (gonna check fuses). I redlined 1st through 3rd and then it blew in 4th gear.......too hot running it that hard? Thanks for posting the pics!!

Holy Cylinderwalls, Batman!
WTF did you do?! What block was that? D or B? I haven't taken the time to learn to look at the top of the deck to tell a difference...
I wonder if a block guard would have prevented this? [flame]let the flaming begin![/flame]
[edit]I see the knock sensor... Must be a VTEC B series...[/edit]

Drag racing at the track. It's aB18C1.......If I had a blockguard I probably would have blown my head off....ha ha ha! I can't believe that all happened in one shot....some of the melting of the pistons and the head just looks like it may have happened over time....but I never had detonation that I could hear and I just dynoed it last week and it ran fine. The A/F from the dyno was at 12.5. Very disturbing.
Damn, looks like it's time for a resleeve.
Makes me wanna rethink running 8lbs daily on my D series(which I've been doing for almost 2 years)

Probably the stupid POS FMU
The head looks like it can be saved, Ive seen worse. The block Im gonna say it probably wont be able to be saved..

Damn Jon that freaking sucks,
I guess you won't be autocrossing this weekend, unless you are going to drive the Volvo
. Anyways if you need my help or anything give me a call or something. You should talk to Mike at MnM head, thats where Brian has his headwork done and they do a good job and are really reasonable on prices. I'll talk to ya later man.
