I'm just curious about this subject, as to how many of you follow the type of definition-poll of JDM/RICE listed below. If you think I should add another type of definition poll, heh, let me know...

My definition of JDM/RICE...

 

jdm/rice is rocking spoon and mugen stickers when you have none of their products. I see everyone trying roll on black rims cause they think black rims is jdm. There are too many things to list.

 

I voted for this. "to me refers to an individual or a group of individuals who front JDM but have about 99.9% rip-off/c"
Anyone who claims to be jdm with no real jdm parts is retarted. But i'm tired of hearing the word RICE.

 

I think its just a big FCKN fashion show... Peeps by all this true/knock-off **** and talk this and that and claim to be this and that. True or knock off, IMHO i dont think none of the companies made or make any of there products just for the fashion side of performance. "JDM" or "RICE" whatever you wanna call it, if your only using it for the looks then i think your just one big FCKN poser. Its kinda like having a Shorty's skateboard cause they seem to be the hip&hot skate crew right now, but your at the skatepark just standing there posing with your brand new skateboard with no slide/grind marks on it...
To many fashion **** if you ask me... just my 2cents....

not another JDM/Rice Poll

 

JDM rice is dependent on the person who owns the car. I have JDM ITR rims on my 4G prelude. I didn't buy them b/c they were off of a JDM car, I bought them b/c I needed some lightweight rims and these were only $525 shipped. I figure that if you are putting all of your money under the hood and you need some lightweight rims, then some slipstreams will work just fine. They are lightweight and cheap, so if you nail a pothole you can buy a new rim for about $100. However, if someone calls their rotas spoons, then they should be dealt with accordingly.

"JDM" rice to me is a car which is built of cheap *** knock parts of the originals. A 96-00 Civic hatchback with painted black headlight housings, Rota shitstreams, Spoon-like CF hood, duckbill spoiler, chin spoiler and imitation CTR body pieces from SpeedStyle would be considered rice to me. It looks better than a Ground Designs super agressor body kit, but it's still crap in terms of build quality and finish. And it's a cheap fake. I'd rather be without.

Also, a clean honda with no body kit with a CF hood and black, gunmetal or bronze 15/16" wheels is "JDM" rice because their owners usually, are trying to go after the "tiiite" "JDM" style.... basically poor attempts to replicate/imitate the vehicles on your website. And then they are dumbasses looking for "JDM" parts that either don't exist or are the same as the USDM ones. WTF?

One exception to the CF rule, in my opinion would be Benen because their stuff, from my understanding is BETTER than the genuine Spoon part.

Some might say that having a ITR clock block plate, J-spec clusters and lighting, Honda badges on their Acuras maybe be ricey because it serves no function, but it is a Genuine Honda part. Factory can't be rice. The only J-spec stuff I can think of which would be complete rice is a 98 Spec-R console badge on your non-98 ITR or a VIN plate on your radiatior that doesn't match your chassis.

I love J-spec stuff, but this "JDM" scene is ******* stoopid. So, what does the infamous J.Kaplan think? What do you think of "JDM" rice? It would be interesting because to hear it, because whether you are willing to admit it or not, your website introduced the internet world to the japanese domestic market. I have nothing against japanese domestic market parts, but the "JDM" acronym is so worn out.

JDM = Abbreviation for Japanese Domestic Market. Basically meaning something that is found, made or comes from Japan.

I won't try and explain my definition because others have touched thoughts I share as well...Simply put, anything "rice" is something cheap to me. Hondas with bodykits to me aren't rice until they put on Taiwanese clear tail lights, or APC Euro-clears. If the car has high-quality parts, It's okay in my book. There are some minor exceptions to the rule...But they're very minor.

 

RICE is what FOBS and WANNABE RACERS represent.

 

 

I don't want to be an ******* here, but think about what a lot of you are saying. I personally never knew anything about JDM style until I came across the FF squads page. And it seems to me, that that one page started the trend of everyone biting Katman's tiiiiiite word usage. After that webpage, everyone started being JDM. I have always liked black wheels before I even owned a Honda, so that's just my style. But it even seems like some of you are saying you have to have the real deal spoon stuff or mugen stuff to be JDM, and if someone has that look well then they are posers for not buying the real deal. **** that! When I started working on my car I wanted to make it quick and visually appealing to ME. Not YOU.

It just seems to me like everyone is trying to be like Katman and Lee and the rest of the FF Squad.

 

i dont see how u say people get black rims or whatever cuz they wanna fake like they have JDM or spoon?? i could give a **** who makes it, if it looks good who cares, my 94 gsr has stock gunmetal rims now, so that means i trying 2 front spoon??? HELL NO

i'm sick of hearing peolpe bash black rims, i had black rims on my car 5 yrs ago! what did everyone say? that they were ugly! i didnt give a ****, everyone was sporting white rims and chromys i bought some k-1's what did i do? painted em black, everyone talked smack about how ugly they were, fast forward to the present, got myself some slipstreams IN BLACK no less and every kid is giving me compliments why did i buy the slips? cause they were cheap! point blank! my mods revolve around my finances, my family comes 1st period! i'm not going to spend big bucks on high dollars wheels that get scrathed,dinged and sometimes even bent,thats just my opinion. **** jdm, it does nothing for me, i like the guage cluster but only cause of the higher redline and white faces. my car prepped for speed,thats all i care about. i don't have the time,finances,nor energy to make my car a show bitch....

My view on "rice" is the same. It's all in the eye of the beholder, a personal preferance that everyone may not share. If i was going to blow my car up would you care? Probably not. Why? Well because it wounldn't effect you! So why is it that people get all upset over my konig helium knock offs? I have my own therory on that, but i wont share it. It will only cause more problems and i know how to keep my mouth shut.

If you think about it, how many options do you really have when your modifying your car???

You can tell when people are buying into the hype weither it be JDM or ricey bling bling ****.

You should fix your car up so its YOUR CAR, and not mod it to fit into a certain classification.
