I paid a local welder in the bay area couple months ago.. think like 2?
To take out a 40 mm wastegate flange and slap on a 38 mm wastegate flange for me..

Driving home today... N that **** cracked.. The whole manifold is fine.. Just the place where he welded the 38 mm flange.. Wastegate is now fucked up too.. My tial.. This fell off a Ramhorn Manifold.. The whole manifold is fine, just where he welded the 38 flang cracked in half.. The manifold is from OBX>.

What u guys think i should do??

 

Sounds like he didnt use filler or just didnt penitrate enough... take it back and make him repair it for free!!!

 

The guy is pretty famous on here too.. I dont wanna see his name, cause i havent got a chance to talk to him yet... U guys think he will replace me with a new Tial wastegate?? that Wastegate aint cheapp..

 

he should if he is a reputable name on the boards.
something small liek a waste gate isnt worth throwing dirt over a name

Did it crack at the wg flange, or at the tube where the wastegate meets the collector? The OBX crap usually cracks at the collector...

 

buy a new manifold

 

Yeah, the funny thing is it didnt cracked in six different places.. It only cracked where the flang was welded at..

The piece of **** manifold is still in perfect condition.... Yah, i talked to that dude, he said bring the manifold and he will do it for free.. But im gonna show him the Tail Wastegate too..

If that **** crack at the same spot again.. Im gonna go for FUll-Race Ram..

 

should have went with f-r from the begining then you would not have had these problems

 

i welded the manifold for him.

and its not my welds that cracked
i cut off the 40MM flange and welded on the 38.


what i welded is perfectly fine. however the obx welds are the ones that cracked right off the collector

just curious, what is wrong with the wastegate? it's not just scratched up, you cant actually use it? if so, thats a shitload of damage. i wanna see!

note .. material failure and i did not weld that. only the flange onto the tube. which is still holding in tact. Therefore. this item will not be warrantied for free repairs. PM me in regards to this, if you want to repair it, its gonna be 50$ to repair. and i will not warranty that it wont crack cuz the material on this manifold is absolute crap.

AHhhhhh.. I guess it's not Phil fault.. all good... I guess im just gonna invest in something that will last longer... I know Phil does a quality job.. So my bad on that Phil.. Im gonna most likely save some money n get the real stuff.. Sucks.. spent 4 bills on that manifold and the down pipe.. Now im gonna new new wastegate most likely.. and new Manifold..

 

OBX is junk, I had a manifold from them like 5 years ago and it did the samething.

I've seen probably about 5 of these break the same way. When trying to weld it spider webs out and cracks even more.

hit me up if you want a QUALITY manifold =-) sorry to hear you spent money on the manifold .. told ya bro .. its junk .. not worht your time. you try to save a quick buck but end up spending more in the end. trust me on that one.

 

you can order a new top half from tial... cheaper than another wastegate
